I had my alternator die on me this past weekend. I took it into a local shop my family uses to have the alternator rebuilt. When the alternator died, I was parked outside a restaurant picking up some take out. when I walked back out to the car, I put it in gear and began to pull away and within the distance of the next 10 feet, the car went into safety mode (3rd gear) and my headlights went out. Weird thing was that my high beam blue interior light came on yet I had no headlight @ all. Today, I picked up my car and the mechanic said it was completely rebuilt and the battery was recharged. I get in and let the car warm up and pull away a few moments later. About halfway home, I go to turn on the lights I suddenly realize that I have no lights. I make it home before the dark comes and take a look at everything. Light assessment is as follows:
both the left and right brake lights work. the brake light bar on the wings works. Both rear turn signals work except the right rear one flashes faster (usually indicating a blow out fuse or bulb). The front low and hi beams do not work and the front left turn signal works but the front right turn signal does not. Also, the drivers done window )power) doesn't go down now but all the other three do. Radio works, horn works, door locks works, alarm works. I initially thought it could have been the body control module but based on the normal traits of a failing body control module it seems not likely. I can only be led to believe that during the time the alternator went out, it took the lo and high beam bulbs out and the right front turn signal bulb as well. If anyone has any ideas or help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes...

First thing that I did was check the bulbs and fuses. I have managed to get the little 194's and the main H3's headlights to work but nothing as far as hi beams (H3) or my fogs (H1's). Mazda tells me it could be the BCm (body control module) but based on the research I've done, it would have affected all the lights and switches. Help!!

Only reference I have is an 07 Mazda3 wiring diagram manual. Cars should be similar but no guarantee to be so. Take for what it is worth. There is a relay for hi and for low beam head lights-2ea, after that there is a fuse for each filiment, left hi and low beam bulb-2ea and a fuse for each filiment, right hi and low beam bulb-2ea. If that is all ok it could be the micro processor if you have auto headlights. Maybe the alternator spiked when it went out and popped fuses or battery charger damaged the electrical system-not saying as fact! If you have auto up and down windows it is normal to have three windows not work from drivers position after battery is disconnected or dead. I believe run each window down a bit, push up and hold for a second when at top, it will click twice I believe. Reprogram radio also. What was the deal with the 194 and head light bulbs getting to work again, was it a fuse/bulb. The rear lights have a relay and fuse also according to my reference. Remembering each headlight filiment could have a fuse.
