The title might have been a bit confusing...

I want to know how to take off the grey pieces on the doors where the UP/DOWN window buttons are, just the grey plactic piece. I'm having the center console painted and it would look stupid if those pieces were painted and the pieces on the doors weren't.

So if anyone knows how, or has a link that shows how to do this, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

That's basically correct. The switch block is screwed to the underside of the trim panel. The whole assembly, trim panel and switch block, clips into the equivalent shaped hole in the door panel. The clips have angled tips, like barbs, so they lock into place. The only way to properly release them without breakage is to take the door panel off, depress the clips (I think there are 6 all together, 3 on each side) and work the whole assembly out. If clearance is tight against the door panel remove the window switch block first by removing the 2 or 3 Philips head screws.
