Aight so a couple of years ago my car was broken into and my alpine headunit was stolen. Ever since then I've been tryna hide my car audio in the car. I just bought a Mazda 6i 5-door and I can't figure out where to hide my audio equip. I'm going to use a factory headunit, but I got two amps and 4 subs. I know, I can't hide 4 subs so I'm going to buy just one 12" that can handle alot of power. Anyway, if anybody has any ideas of where to place my equipment, please inform me. Thanks.

p.s. I posted this in the newb sec, but nobody replied so please give me answer because I plan on putting my audio in soon.

You can hide the headunit in the glove box or upper map pocket if you want.
If your using the factory head unit, you can put everything in the trunk... I dont get it?
You said your useing the stock head unit so all you want to hid is the amp and sub, right?
I also used the stock head unit. I put my 2 subs and 2 amps in the trunk. Seamed like a good place.
Well the problem is that I had someone break into my car b4. They only stole my cd player, but if they would've had the time to go into the trunk. I would've lost 4 infinity subs and two $500 amps. I don't much money to replace this stuff, so I just want to hide it as much as possible because I know people around where I live will remember seeing my car booming up and down the streets. So I figure that if I can hide all my equipment, then when someone breaks in, they be like WTF, where's the car audio. Thats why I want to hide it...
Your gonna be hard pressed to hide a sub... The amp will probably fit under the passanger seat... I suppose you could build a factory looking box that would sit inside one of the fender humps in the trunk. However that would only work if the theif was dumb... HEHE
Well I'm pretty much SOL huh. Well what alarms systems do you recommend? I use to have a chain on my trunk in the other car. It didn't rattle because I taped it up, but I'm guessing that if the average theif broke in, they wouldn't be able to open the trunk. But I didn't have fold down seats then. Now I do so there's another concern. Well I'll figure something out. thanks for the input
I got an idea.

Don't play your stereo so loud that they hear you "booming up and down the streets" and no one will ever know you have one. How's that for hiding?
I'm going to sink all of my audio (amp, chords and xbox) down in my wheel well in the trunk. I dont really need the spare since I got AAA. There is plenty of room down there to hide an amp and one sub. Look around in your area for someone that does custom sub boxes. Have one molded to the wheel well and up in the trunk. At least thats what I;m going to do with mine, already got my Xecuter 2 Xbox hooked up to my P5700. Now comes the subs and amps!! :yesnod:
Let me tell you from personal experience. I used to be a full on dope-head, been clean for about 9 years now.
If i knew someone had a system, i would do pretty much anything including mindlessly tearing apart the car to get what i wanted! My suggestion is to get a better alarm system, that was always a good deterent. If you got it, flaunt it!, cause nothin stops a dope fiend!
If you put it in the trunk, the back seat doesn't release from inside the car. I guess you might be able to force it open if you really wanted to? But I haven't tried, or even looked at the latches, so i dunno if it would be possible or not.. But i don't see getting into the trunk as a very easy thing to do without the remote? But maybe I'm wrong?
Ha just get an alarm system and some bullet proof glass and ur all set. Shit if you are that woried just put it all in the trunk and disable the trunk opener button in the car and lock down the 2 back seats. I forgot that there is a button in the glove compartment if you press your trunk button in the car wont work so try that
im putting my amp in the wheel well.
F' the sub, i want max quality and im just putting it in the back corner. Im from ohio n e ways, only in cinci or some down town area's do people steal that stuff.
i actually want to hide my JVC deck (single din) inside of the top compartment on the center console.
has anyone tried to conceal one in there? i don't want the molded piece that has the unit stick out.
do you know if there is a kit available that will allow me to keep the lid that's there now? or will i just have to cut out the back of the compartment and modify a bit?
yeah, i just bought an alarm system and i pretty much disabled my trunk opener through the glove compartment and locked the glove compartment with the key. kinda sucks though, cuz i can only open my trunk with my key and that takes away they conveniece of a remote trunk opener.

There actually is no kit for putting a DIN size head unit in the upper compartment. You would need some custom work done there. I suggest you go into electrical, pictures/videos and look around as many 6club members have done this.

As far as hiding your sub/amp/headunit this is what you do:

You can do like 4U2NV said and just play your music loud when your not near an area where people know you so well with your car. Always worked for me!

My truck was broken into once and the guys who broke in pretty much busted my whole back window out of my 97 Explorer. Well, little did they know I had bolted my sub/box/amp on box down to my frame. So they retaliated by stabbing my sub, which doesn't bother me because they didn't get it. This was in the ghettos of Anchorage.
So bolting down your box is just a suggestion.

Build a BIG ASS BOX!!!! Custom make one to fit PERFECTLY in your 5door and I can tell you that a thief would see that and say "Oh HELL no."

Tint? Don't know if it would be legal for where u are but my window tint in my Explorer was 2% all around, illegal as hell!!!! Never got caught as I lived on base.

Last, your best bet, and greatest investment, AN ALARM!!!! They make alarms for about 400bucks that can reach a radius of about 2 miles. Seriously though, where do you go 2 miles away from your car unless you park downtown or something and walk around or go hiking somewhere. I had a Prestige Audiovox alarm system....(cheapy) that was wired to my car horn, had an alarm of it's own, and came with an LCD screen that showed me where exactly someone was breaking in, bought it for about $450. If you think about it the only real places you go far from your vehicle is when you go shopping, or into a restraunt, or school or something. You buy a 2 mile radius alarm system and you'll be fine....

A lot of info, all up to you, I experienced bad times with my Explorer and my audio, hopefully all works out with you.

On the 5-door, there's actually space under the rear bench seat. It's easy to unbolt, and there's alot of room just under the seat cause there's somewhat of a huge cavity under there.
Hey there,
What I can suggest is why dont you do a full fibre glass install and thus incorporate the subs and amps into the design. I recently saw that some guy moulded pieces over the sides of the sub and amps and therefore it couldnt be lifted out. But what you do is make them accessible from under or the sides where they wouldnt normal look if they were to break into your vehicle. And another plus would be that it would look damn hot!!!
Well its just a thought.... hope it helps!!!
