just picked up a sweet 2004 model today for the gf's new ride. i just couldn't pass up the deal on this car and not to mention it only had 41k on the speedo. so far we are throughly enjoying this car with my main emphasis for it to find my cosmetic thing to do in the interior at the moment.

a little about me (if you really need to know)

I am 37 and have been into tuning for about 3 years now. my main forte' in terms of cars is hyundai's where i have been both a super moderator on RDtiburon.com (RIP) and now a moderator over at hyundai aftermarket.org. I literally torn my RD2 completely apart and redone it all with hopes of going turbo next summer. plan for it to hit 275 whp at 15 psi while hopefully still getting 35 mpg on the 2.0 motor is what my build parameters are.

We mainly got this vehicle for the ample amounts of room in the rear seating area for my two sons which are 15 and 12 and could hardly fit in the tib rear seat, haha. it also helped with all the aftermarket pieces on this car already that finalized my bid on getting this car.

pics of the 6:

all the gauges in the interior are prosport like what are in my car except for the AEM afr gauge. it also has a prosport boostgauge which was installed by prior owner for a boost project that never happenend. didn't bother me, i will take those two out and use them when i go F.I. on my tib.

pics or my tib:

what it looked like when i bought it (yeah, i know, a F&F reject)

led gauge work (not for the faint at heart)

and finally what she looks like now...

I hope to learn from all of you and get to know a couple of you. through car forums i have made several friends. now if that doesn't sound "stalkish enough",lol....what else can i say?

:welcome9: to the 6Club! :wavey:

First off, I like what you did with the Tibby.

I also hope you plan on putting some time into the 6, although it looks like a solid mod job already...

yes we have a few plans after i get the tib paid off. Have like 6 or 7 payments and then it will be mine. first thing we will probably do is get a mantra kit so i can install a single din alpine HU. the former owner said he was a admin of a mazda forum but he didn't tell me which one.

Yeah, that's djquik1's old ride! Can't believe it took me this long to figure that one out...

He's got a lot of old posts with pics as well as the evolution of the car. Take a look...

Hey now. Seems like it'll be going to a good home to me...

(Well, at least it isn't to an owner of a riced-out Civic!) :)

i hear you already smacked up the front bumper on the car.... shits not cheap to replace man...

here is my opinion on this... give the tib to your gf as its a girls car then you yourself drive the 6 because its a much nicer car

So, djquik's car has found a new home. I certainly hope this doesn't shorten it's projected life span. Seriously, one of the nicest 6's anywhere. Welcome to the 6 world, and take good care of the new ride!

should i tell you that it through a CEL on the way home from Topeka to Wamego which is only 35 miles or is that my fault also?

ok, story on the bumper....

it is not bad and i TRUTHFULLY believe it was not me that did it. that GTR kit I had on my tib was lower than this one was and where i had drove it was fairly smooth roads (topeka BLVD. southbound left lane and I-470 to boston market on Wannamaker where i left 2 ft. before the curb. I never once heard a thud or the sound of scraping fg which i know the sound of well.

but enough explaining....

I had a feeling i would be known of as "the new owner guy", it's all good.

HaHa Pat.... I have enough damn tib parts.

i believe dave had a CAI on the car... this car will throw a CEL if it is not the CP-E CAI on the car because the CP-E comes with a box that acts as a piggy back tuner for the intake. What you can do is go to advanced auto or autozone and have them pull the code then post it up we should be able to help you then... Also what i always do is check to make sure the fuel cap is all the way on (unscrew it and screw it down to you hear three clicks) The system is very picky and if its over or under tightened it can throw a CEL. Also sorry to be mean to you earlier i was just upset to hear that the bumper was smacked up its an expensive piece that only 2 mazdas i know of have. Anyways if you want more help i would suggest heading over to 6crew.com we will take car of you and your car! Enjoy your ride man this thing was never abused and the previous owner is a stand up guy.

apology accepted, thanks man.

actually i did get it checked last night at autozone and it was PO431 which can be either a exhaust or a bad cat. there was a tingy sound coming from the exhaust when i was test driving it but i chalked it up to not knowing much about the platform.

car goes back tuesday to laird noller and i will have them look at that then. i cleared the code just to see if it will come back up when i go back home for this weekend.

here is the code
P0431 Warm-up catalyst system (LH) efficiency below threshold ON 2 Catalyst ´ (DTC P0421, P0431)

you may have a clogged cat or a crack in it... i would suggest not driving the car because a lot of mazda 6's have blown their motors from clogged cats (common problem with this platform with the only fix being aftermarket headers)
