I did this with my Valentine 1 the other day and figured I'd post a brief how to. I have an '11 S GT but most this should be the same on any second gen.

Tools
-T-25 Torx screwdriver
-Flat tip screwdriver

First remove overhead counsel

Remove two(2) T-25 trox screws from sunglass holder

Remove map light covers with flat tip

Now it should pull down.
There are three(3) connetors on it remove them by pushing in on the tabs

Two(2) on right side

One(1) on left

You should see a black box with another connection on the left side bolted to the roof

Remove the tape from the wire to expose the wires. The pink wire will give you power only when the car is on(I'm pretty sure it's for the sunroof)

For the ground the only place I could find that was easily accessed was where the torx screw that holds the counsel up

Run the wire for the the detector so it comes out from the front of the haedliner. Tuck the wires and reverse the steps to replace counsel

Nice write up. Seems simple enough!
I wish I could do something like this in my '05, except I don't really think my parents have noticed that I have my dad's radar detector in there yet! ;) :D

I know this may sound crazy, but I didn't know
people still use radar detectors. I thought that was an 80's thing.
I've seen plenty of people with radar detectors (or laser, or whatever it is they detect now) driving around. I have one (well, my dad "forgot" to take it out of my 6 when he got his TL) that has saved me on more than one occasion.

Valentine One owner :) I don't leave home without it. I wouldn't have a license now if my blinking red angel wasn't there to save me. I have convinced 5 of my friends to pickup V1's as well usually when we are going somewhere in my car and they see how effective it is. Highly recommended.

I too have a Valentine One. I bought a flushmount hanger for it so it sits right under the mirror instead of way forward on the windshield.
My wiring enters the rain sensor cover, up around the windshield, and down behind the driver side dash. It is connected to their newest accessory, the SAVVY which plugs into the OBDII connector and can mute the unit automatically when below a set speed (mines set for 35MPH....great for the grocery store parking lot where there are 8 signals going full strength, lol).

You guys have GPS in the valentine?

I just got a blendmount for my Escort, but the GPS is sort of hit-and-miss so far away from the windshield with the auto wiper sensor in the way.

Still have yet to wire the smart switch because I have to get a mount working for the switch.

No GPS in the ValentineOne. Why would you need GPS on a radar detector?
Display of your speed when caught, remembers false positives, speed and red light camera locations.

Nice feature, but hit and miss without an external antenna.

Hey Ernie, noticed you had an Escort, and I don't mean to thread jack but;

I just got an Escort 8500. I needed it for a spontaneous road trip so I didn't have time to buy the more sought out for, V1. However, the few reviews that I did read, said the 8500 is about neck and neck with the V1, with the exception of a few more false-positives.

From my current use this past weekend, I have gotten a lot of warnings, however little to no evidence of an actual cop being near by. I understand this is the nature of the product, however, should i keep the Escort 8500, or return it for a V1? Anyone's insight would be awesome!

Thanks!
