I used the "hidden" bolt that holds the head unit in place to ground my eq. In the trunk I grounded my distro. block to the bolt that is used for the child seat belt.

are you talking about from your amp?

mine is under the seat. there's a single bolt on the driver's side of the car that i took out, scraped the paint clean and put the ground there. once you put the carpet and the seats back it's very clean and neat.

if i still use the cig lighter outlet as my power source, do i need to cut the existing ground wire and rewire the ground to the bolt?

sorry for my ignorance. thanks for the help.

unless you mean for your remote, HELL NO, you will blow fuses and/or your amp will not get the power it needs to work properly. Do it right and run power from your battery.
