Hey guys I am new here, and I have been trying to find some info on a issue I have, with my ms6, basicly when I put the car in 1st gear and let go of the clutch, it makes a grinding noise while the car is coming off a dead stop, if the car is in motion it will not do so on any gear. at one point the clutch pedal was staying stuck halfway thru the travel. but it hasnt done so anymore.

it does not squeal or grind when pedal is fully pushed, and again only makes the noise when the car is NOT in motion (coming out of a dead stop) and the pedal is released in 1st gear or reverse.

Any ideas? Thanks

Needs new clutch. Sounds like the lining is coming off the disc. The scraping sound is the metal disc face rubbing against the flywheel or pressure plate. The pedal stuck halfway because the lining section that separated got hung up in between the flywheel and pressure plate.

damn it thanks guys for the good response, I will be putting a new act clutch kit this monday with a buddy of mine. anything I need to look for / do while I am in there.

I really appreciate the help.

could this be a piece of it.
Yep, that is a piece of the diaphram spring section of the pressure plate. You might want to hurry up with that clutch replacement... LOL

Hey forzda if I use an act heavy duty clutch do I have to use their flywheel as well.

and the throwout bearing? ACT Heavy-Duty Clutch Kits

And I am using the daily driver in the mean time. the 6 is staying in the garage, I dont want to mess it up anymore :(
I would run the ACT flywheel for sure. The OEM is dual mass and subject to failure itself. I plan on installing the ACT 6-Puck Sprung Disc setup if/when my clutch starts to go away. I have a Fidanza flywheel I bought a while back, but will likely sell it for the ACT full kit.

Ok guys I havent changed the clutch yet, because I got screwed over by the website that I ordered the clutch from (the one on the link) they keep pushing the ship date on the e-mails, but they did not failed to charge my acct, even though they havent shipped the part. got the bank involved so that is not an issue.

So now I decided to get the whole kit with a street disc and the flywheel,

ACT Clutch Kit - Heavy Duty (HD) - JDM parts: Honda, Toyota, Nissan - Japanese aftermarket and performance car parts

The webiste looks to be a little to cheap to be true, anyone's got any experience with them, and if not who's got the cheapest price, that is reputable.

You say honda and I know where to jump to, but with mazdas I am at a loss.

well got it installed some 780 miles ago and well, and it feels good it engages smoothly and all, the weird feeling of the clutch pedal off a moment and and on the next is gone, but the new flywheel lets go of too much vibration when on wot.

Maybe we didnt tighten it hard enough (torque wrench was used). It also makes a clicking noise when the car is idle and the clutch pedal is depressed after some 15+ miles of highway driving.

Like the bite dont like the noise, may have to take it apart again. my buddy seems to think is the throwout bearing we will see.

The noise is identical to what this guy described, http://forum.mazda6club.com/speed6-engine-drivetrain/241540-dieseling-type-noise-clutch-area.html
