I have 18" wheels and I'm thinking of going to 16".
I'm looking for a little softer ride and paying about $200 less for a set of smaller tires when they need to be replaced.

If I sell the 18s on Craigslist, what is a good asking price?
What is the going price for a set of used Mazda 16" OEM alloy wheels going for?
Will the steering response get very sloppy with 16" wheels or not make that much difference from the 18s?

BR, Im not sure where your located but I bet someone on this site in your area that still has the stock wheels with similar tire condition as you would easily trade with ya.

If you were selling your wheels on CL though with tires I would look to get around 6 to 800 but thats just a guess I want I think they're going for. Really depends on your tires too.

Have you considered downsizing to 17" rims? You'll get your softer ride (with the taller tire sidewall), as well as a less-expensive tire without sacrificing too much in terms of handling.

Depending on the tires, going to 16" rims may disappoint you in the handling department.

I went from 18" to 17" and the ride quality increased dramatically, but the steering response and handling were only marginally affected. My 15" winter tires, on the other hand, feel like I bolted on marshmallows. In other words, much softer ride, but also sloppy handling.

If you care at all about handling, I would look into trading for some OEM 17's instead.

16's maybe a bit soft feeling.

I have a set of Stock 17' Twisted Stars available (one of them has a bit of rash on it, but will be repairing it in the spring). They have 6 Ecsta's ASX to go with them (4 are mounted on the 17's and 2 spares). I will tell ya, the Kumho's are not quiet though. Although, they do ride really nice for an "Ultra High Performance All Season Tire".

Don't know where you are located.

If you go with a "Touring Tire", the 17's ride really nice and quiet.

I tried that with both my JDMs for a few months before I went back to the stock 18s. I used the 16s with 225/60 tires because I was desperate for some rim protection on the poor roads we have over here.

As you might expect, however, the car certainly steered and stopped much better with the 18s - which is why I went back to the OEs.

If cost is a concern, I would recommend a set of Hankook V12 Evos K110 (225/45R18 on the JDM, as opposed to 235/45 on the USDM). They are only slightly more expensive than the interim Sumitomo HTR-Z II's I had on the 16s, and their performance can't be beaten for any price. Now I'm even thinking of switching the Benz to 17s just so I can use a set on it. They're that good.
