Get roof air deflector and shock sensor?

Trivia, I realize. Any comments on whether the air deflector is needed/does it look funny? My car is Ti Grey if that matters.

From what I recall from old posts (not Mazdaspeed 6 related) the roof wind deflector doesn't do anything. imho, it's ugly, fwiw. :)
Past members have removed the wind deflector after a period of time, only to discover that the deflector left a bunch of scratches on the paint where it makes contact with the roof. Scratches that only a body shop could remove, BTW. Plus, I've also heard (at least on the Mazda6 models) that the wind/road noise is actually WORSE with the deflector than without it. I doubt the MS6 would be much different...
I got the wind deflector and the shock sensor. I actually like it and there's not too much noise that I notice. Just my opinion. You can see a pic of it in my avatar, it's a Titanium Gray as well.
It's (the wind deflector) a dealer "pack". One of those things a dealer uses to make an additional profit on a new car. It probably costs the dealer less than $20 and they charge you $100 or more.

Aside from looking dumb they do little or no good.

Thanks, sounds like I'm better off without it. The dealer did not install them on any of thier stock; it could be there's an honest employee ordering for their lot who hasn't been found out yet.
Actually they've been painless to deal with so far. $400 "doc fee" and that's it. They have to make money somewhere.

Any comments on the 'alarm shock sensor upgrade'?
I don't think anyone needs a air deflector. When my moonroof is open all the way, I can't hear anything, nor feel anything, all though the air does smell good.
both came with mine. i'm one of those who removed the wind deflector to find paint damage. there are lines in the paint. it's off now, but i'm afraid the paint will peel. i'll complain to the dealer, but i'm not expecting much.

the shock sensor works. i used to install alarms for a living; frankly, they aren't worth the money, but built in is ok.
I didn't even know I had a shock sensor till I was putting in my insurance and registration and I saw the instructions for it in the glove box. So I was wondering and I looked underneath my pedals and I saw it wired in. Didn't even get charged for it, the dealer didn't know it was there. So, if its free, why not? I had to crank the sensitivity down though.
I found the same thing! I couldn't understand why my alarm kept going off, and someone on this forum suggested I look for the shock sensor and sure enough there it was!!! I didn't ask for it, didn't pay for it, nor did it show up on the window sticker as an option!?!?!

If you can look under the dash - actually just left of your left foot to see if there's one already there - you can see the unit quite easily (about the size of a deck of cards). I had to turn the sensitivity down, but it's set that if someone opens a door into the side of my car it will go off.

As far as the wind deflector, those are really ugly!!! IMHO. Besides, I beleive there's a small sprin-loaded metal bar that pops up to prevent too much wind from entering the car. I have a sunroof and don't think there's too much wind with it open.

BTW, $400 document fee!?!?! That's nuts! They make plenty of money on the car (holdback, warranty work, etc) I'd tell them you'll look for another dealler that doesn't have such BS fees!!! I'd bet they'll drop that if you tell them you're not interested.
