I have a 2005 Mazda 6 which has served me very well, but I am having an intermittent problem. Periodically when I turn off the car, my gauges flip back and forth several times. When this occurs I cannot start the car until I pull the negative terminal of the batter for 10 seconds and reattach it. After this the car starts right up and will start up normally for a few weeks. I have replaced the battery on the car the first time this problem happened so do not believe the issue is the battery. Especially when it starts right up after the unattach, reattach process. Any ideas out there?

is your neg cable getting tight enough? maybe its stripped. is there corrosion on the terminal? sounds like you are not getting a solid connection all the time

That's usually indicative of a dead battery and/or bad connection at the terminals. I'd clean your terminals and ring connecters off really well and try again.

Like already said, clean your battery connections and make sure the other end of the cables are good as well.
