All of the sudden my gas mileage has gone south, I'm running injector cleaner through this tank of gas now. Besides maybe a dirty air cleaner.. What else could it be? The car has 41k on it now.. I have always ran 93 through it since I got the car.. Could the plugs be dirty? I thought typically they were good till 100k? I'm getting worried now cause I leave for the beach friday night and im taking my car.. i dont wanna drive it some 1200 miles getting terrible gas mileage.. Thoughts anyone?

Thanks.

Not quite international, but typically i can get a week out of a tank.. and the last two i have gone through in about 5 days.. i have been running it harder as of late.. but when i sit at a stop light i can feel its running a little rougher then usual..

Lol it could be in your head to be honest. You say you've been running it hard and I know when I run mine hard my tank seems to be gone In less time than it takes to refill (sarcasm)

It very well could be.. the fact im gonna be driving it 1200 miles in the next few weeks doesn't help.. but i have noticed that it is running a little rougher then usual, but i did fill up twice at a different gas station then i usually do.. im just gonna do the plugs to stay on the safe side..

Sounds like a good Idea. My suggestion would be do that then Drive conservatively on this trip and map out your gas milage on a data chart like excel. And look at it and see if it is satisfactory.

That's gonna be the game plan.. I should be able to get some decent mileage in the flats of NC... im just worried about staying out of boost in the mountains of West Virginia its way too much fun not to fly up those mountains.. haha

clean the maf... and or replace the 02 sensor.
I agree with cleaning the maf meter. Disconnect your battery, disconnect the harness from the maf, unscrew the two screws holding it in. Use a Q-tip and a little rubbing alcohol and GENTLY swab the dirt off it. The part you want to clean is the little amber colored ball of "glue" that sticks down from two metal studs. I have noticed some improvements in gas mileage after cleaning my air filter and the maf. I guess it could be in my head, but it can't hurt! I'm betting you'll find a bunch of junk stuck to that probe in there.

 The "ball of glue" is a temp sensor. The MAF sensor is a small resistor and you NEVER want to touch it with anything. The only thing you should use to clean it is non residue electronics cleaner. Just spray it and let it evaporate.

Hmm... well I stand corrected! I was informed before that a q-tip could be used very gently... I will keep that in mind for future reference!

Sounds like basic tune-up time first-
plugs, air filter & MAF cleaning are all easy things to do. Mornings work with time for breakfast & lunch.

The colder plugs will only be of value with supporting mods. If your not generating the heat needed to clean 'em......

Start with a simple CHEAP set of Autolite Platnium APP5364. They will be fine for an oil change or two, and let you read your plugs & determine if your in need of colder plugs.
