Hawaii's finest do use radar still, i have confermation.
many of you know that I have a nice little hardwired radar detector, even though I don't drive TOO fast. (honest here, too many cars, I don't like to be the weaving asshole. It's just dumb.)
Anyways, on my way home from work tonight (8:20PMish) I was clocking 70-75mph on H1, I picked up a signal that QUICKLY jumped all the way up to 9 bars the highest reading for my detector on the X band. So I dropped down to just above 55mph. The detector is freaking out for a few more seconds, then I see on the other side on H1, some poor sap getting pulled over, I pass by and the radar signal drops off.
So a few things to know in refrence. Cop cars here are equiped with radar, they can use it while driving. I have my detector set on the most sensitive setting, I pick up false readings (FR) more, but I can detect from further away. = more time to react. FR come from various things, you learn to pick up on where they always happen. Big ones are automatic doors, as they use radar. usualy get FR around the aiport viaduct (radar & laser), kmart @ waikele just off H1, the kunia/ewa exit, etc. Usualy, FR come in at 1-3 bars, and drop off quickly, as they are stationary.
Like I said, a FYI. Speeding is bad. :nono: But if you do, do it safe and smart.
