*gauge. I just got my mazda 6 (2006) less then 2 weeks ago and i noticed the fuel gage doesnt go up all the way. It goes up to the 2nd closest bar to full and the gas light is almost always. If its and less then 2 gallons from completely full the light will be on. I let it run all the way down to the last bar and it filled up with 13 gallons so i still have a few gallons from empty. Is this a common problem? I knew i should have never gotten a ford. <_<. I also noticed the turning wheel for lumbar support does absolutely nothing but turn in circles not adjusting anything.

I have this same issue, '05 6s. Problem just started up 2 weeks ago.
Anyone else have any input? The fuel gauge only goes up to the 3/4 full line when the tank is actually full. This cause the gas light to come on about a quarter tank too early. thanks!

I would check the bob on the fuels guage in the gas tank. It sounds as if the bob is getting stuck before the full demark on the rotary sensor. What type of fuel have you been using and are you topping off the tank? Topping a tank off can damage the fuel gauge sensor.

I'm getting this too. How weird. I have an 08 6i atx.

Not looking forward to taking out a whole back seat to try that though.

Why would the bobber get stuck in the first place?

Probably would have to try this with a free day to mess around. Won't be anytime soon though. *sigh*

Bye.

OK! I think I will try this in a couple weeks.

Anybody got any final tips/precautions for a noob about checking the bob?

Would there even be anyway I would know if something was wrong with the bober(visually) or am I basically just pulling it out a little, looking at it, putting it back in and hoping the gauge works after that?

I'm not asking for a walkthrough, but any advice in general that hasn't already been put in this thread is better than none.

Thanks ahead of time.

Bye.

When you pull the pump, have some rags or paper towel ready as some fuel will be dripping off the pump.

When you pull the thing the bobber should be clear of any debris or anything. There should be a floater on the bobber, make sure that is still secured to the Arm as this is what reads the fuel levels. as the gas goes in the tank, the floater SHOULD move up with the fuel and then send a signal to the cluster that now the tank is at X point. If the floater is no longer there, or something is inhibiting it from moving then it won't read properly. If the sender unit isn't operating properly then the signal being sent to the dash will not operate properly.
