It seriously doesn't look so bad that you can't buy a sheet of sheet metal and screw it in there. Use a piece of card board and a sharpie to map out exactly what size cut you'll need and cut the sheet metal accordingly. If you want it to look almost stock, buy a cheap flat black garage can from the dollar store and cut that accordingly.

BTW, if you look into that hole you can see that resonator connected to your air box (air box mod). I'd remove that completely while you have easy access to enhance the sound of the stock intake.

Unless your one of those guys that just "Have to have the car look stock," covering that hole should not cost you more than $10 (garbage can/sheet metal and screws) and about 30 mins. GL

Observation

Hello All,

I'm having the same problem. Looking closer, I noticed I'm missing the "bolt" or plastic clip, not sure what it is because it is gone from the inner part of the plastic inner fender.

My guess any speed over 20 mph causes the inner fender to press against the tire. Without the clip/screw/whatever goes in the hole to keep it back.

Looking at the Service Manual, there are no part number for these fasteners nor the instructions for how to remove that inner piece.

I will venture to the local Mazda Dealership and see if they have any replacement fasteners. Anyone else experience this problem? Or other solutions around it?

My inner fender skirt came off yesterday from this problem. The crappy part is i have CAI right infront of my drivers tire. Now that it's exposed, i looked around online and found this one. 07 2007 Mazda 6 Inner Fender - Body Mechanical & Trim - Action Crash, Left - Driver Side, Right - Passenger Side - PartsGeek
The only problem is, its for the turbo model (Mazdaspeed 6) and mine is the V6 edition. Does anyone know if the parts are the same or not? I can probably call a dealer tomorrow and find out exactly but i just don't want my intake getting destroyed. As far as the fasteners, i would try to "mock" something up like a wire ties for the time being until you come up with a more permanent solution.

they are all the same from what I remember. did you try Rockauto.com? they are vendor on here.

as for the clips that hold them inplace. they are J-clips on the under side you can get at Ace and get proper bolts to match. The inner fender ones are sold at Fastenal which should have a location near you, or can be purchased online fire ~$19/box of 25 IIRC.

I gave you the answers you need in the initial thread you started.
