Their asking price is definately too high for a 03 with those miles. Consider that you only have 8K miles left on the warranty and many warranty issues that are only covered early on it a warranty period such as clutch problems, brakes, etc will probably be denied. The painted grill is probably aftermarket on a 03...check to be sure how will it was painted if it was. Also make sure that the sunroof was installed well if it is aftermarket. Myself I am not real fond of an aftermarket sunroof in a newer vehicle with a factory option for it. I guess it depends on what kind of shape it appears to be in and how rare it really is in your specific area. I don't think I would consider it unless they were willing to move quite a lot.
Found a 03 6S 5 speed w/42k miles
They're asking $14,900. It's white (my fav), 5 speed, sport package? It has the painted grille and ground effects. It looks to have Mazda accessory leather and an aftermarket sunroof. Not too thrilled about the roof though. Basically all 4 wheels have road rash here and there. The car was serviced at the dealer for alignments and warranty stuff. It's still under 4/50 until next December. It has tinted windows, although I haven't looked at them closely. I called the service dept as I service my wife's wagon there and he told me it had the TSB front brake work done, alignments, etc.

Word. It appears to be a factory sport package with ground effects. I'm pretty sure I had them run the vin function and verified that. Their price is in line with any I've found within 200 miles, which I'm not willing to drive. Agreed on the sunroof. Just found a silver 04 with 46k on it for $15,995. It appears to have the ground effects with chrome grille. Factory roof, no spoiler, black leather, 5 speed.
I am getting an '03 v6 5 spd... but it's not the sports package though... but has everything else... (16 inch wheels... leather... climate control... power driver side... moonroof...) but no spoiler for $12,500 plus TTL.
The mileage on that is only 36,3XX... I think your price is a little high... I am in Texas though...

Did you mistype something..... If not and you just have a car with 57K and w/a 100K extended warranty then you are in the same exact price ranges he is talking about if he does any negotiation at all.

I dont think so. From i read he does not have BOSE system, Factory sunroof which an aftermarket one would worry me, and it is also the first year of the new model. I have never been a big fan of the first year of a new car. Plus the 03 has 16in wheels and no GPS. Not to mention I have also twice the amount of warranty that this one does.
So either I got a decent deal, or he is not getting one
I am sure it is probably the factory sports package...just that somebody may have changed the grill to a later sport grill as most of the 03's with the sport package had a chrome grill.....Most of the 04 and later got the painted grill with sport package. If you can negotiate the price some it is probably fine the way it sounds for your area...Just be sure to check the vehicles over good as there isn't much time to resolve anything that comes up under factory warranty.Word. You have exactly what I'm looking for. Bose stereo? Only problem is I'm not in to driving out of my area. Two kids, wife, church involvement etc keep my grounded here. If you were only closer......Nice car. I'm not necessarily buying either of the local ones due to mileage being higher than what I want for that kind of money. Carmax made me a fair offer on my 06 GTI though, which shocked me.

The only "better" things you got were an aftermarket warranty (which has virtually no value since they cover virtually nothing that is likely to break or if you really want one can be bought for a few hundred bucks); 8K in factory warranty is worth a LOT more than 40K in aftermarket extended warranty. And the aftermarket GPS adds little if anything to the actual value since it's aftermarket (it would also make a electrical system claim on that aftermarket warranty very difficult since extended warranty providers can deny you for anything they'd like, including any modifications at all with no burden of proof as to the cause of failure). The only thing of real value that you have in addition is the Bose system, and a lot of people would prefer not to have that (which may be one reason why his car has an aftermarket sunroon, many people didn't want the Bose but you had to get it to get the factory moonroof in '03).
And '03s with the sport package had 17" wheels just the same as all the other years.
I'd shoot for $14K out the door max. That should be around $13,200-ish. A fair price for a loaded (minus Bose) MTX. Less of course being better. And I wouldn't worry too much about the aftermarket sunroof. Dealers select very reputable installers for them because the factory warranty must be applied to them. They're usually actually better than the factory ones, often being larger and having more features (like Auto-Close which I wish the factory one had). Many manufacturers actually don't build their cars with moonroofs on any and actually install them in finished cars as they're ordered that way from the dealer, so what the aftermarket companies do is no different than what many manufacturers do as far as "cutting into a finished cars roof" goes.

Aftermarket accessories or not, that is a very beautiful Mazda 6. I say follow your heart and go for it, if you wish. Hell, it's $10,000 cheaper than what I paid for my 2006 Mazda 6i Sport (damn inequity). As for the mileage, especially for an NC car of three years of age, it isn't bad at all. What was it? 4X,XXX? My brother's 2003 Protege has 66,000 miles on it. I mean, come on. Thinking about mileage to that specific of a point is a bit crazy.
Well, I don't have to trade and I have a brand new car with 10k on it. I really like the Mazda6S 5 speed, but I can be picky since I'm not deadset on doing it. All of the wheels are scuffed up and it has those hideous BFG TA's on it. With no bose, I'm really not a player as that is one of the things I love about my wife's car. My stereo in my GTI blows.
I can't believe a $30,000 car would have a crappy stereo. VW is goin' down!
Mine stickered for $22,600, so not even close. The Mazda stickers for $26 to get the bose.
