Do you think Ford should sell the Mondeo here in the states? Remember the previous generation Mondeo ST220 shared alot of parts with the Mazda6s. I always felt that instead of the Fusion we should have the Mondeo. What do you guys think? Better than Fusion or worst?

Mmm it ain't half bad. I do believe that it was featured in the new bond movie, Casino Royale.

edit: Crud, business beat me to the pop culture statement.

IMO definitely better looking than the Fusion.

I agree. It's not a bad looking car.

They should sell it here, just like the Focus RS! But ford does not want anything cutting into the Mustang sales, maybe the Mondeo wouldn't but the Focus RS mos def would. Europeans get all of the styling and the best features.

Hopefully Ford will wake up and get us some cars with some better lines and styling.

looks way better than the Fusion IMO

I drove a Fusion for 1500 miles last month on a business trip. Even though it is the same platform than the 6, this car feels WAY different than a "real" 6. I liked that the radio could read MP3 as standard equip compared to the upper-scale package in the 6 though.

I always wondered why Americans autombile manufacturer think that Europe is so different than America as for car tastes... I fully agree that the Focus RS would have been a killer on this side of the pond too.

Europe does seem to get better cars but with Ford hurting until 2009 as they say, I would hope that they would bring those cars over here.

But we just know that that will never happen!!!
Ford turning their company around by 2009 will also never happen...

What a hideous slapped-together POS lack of style! Nothing seems to flow, or integrate into a common theme, or work together on that car. Looks like they cobbled together parts of several different cars because they were all lying around on the factory floor. Sort of like "One Piece at a Time".

Ford needs to fire all their designers and find people with taste and style (a touch of attitude wouldn't hurt, either).

The pictures actually look worse than a Fusion, though I would have to see one live to tell.

The Ford Mondeo is a sweet-looking sedan compared to the bland crap handed to us in the US. The Mazda 6 is probably the only good-looking affordable mid-size sedan around. We could use some competition. Even the Euro Ford Escort was good in sports form.

The concept version definitely looked a lot better. That chrome in the front -- yuck.

So what do these things have engine/tranny-wise?
[/b]
I'm not sure what these have. I know the previous generation ones (ST220) had the same engine as the Mazda6s. It was tuned differently and had slightly higher horsepower/torque output than our engines.

Saw the new Bond film today. I was suprised at how well looking this car looked. I bet money that the next Mazda6 will look similar. ;)

cutting into the mustang sales? i guess seeing a half dozen heading in the same direction at EVERY stop light isn't enough.

i think the new mustang is one of the ugliest cars around but the mondeo is the best looking car ford has made to date, imo. [/b]

whew.......I was starting to think I was the only one.!!

Frankly I'm getting sick and tired of the "retro" look. We've come a long way in 30 years in terms of aero improvements, styling, and evolution of the automobile, and now everything gets thrown back to the 60's and 70's in terms of styling except that it almost looks like they're trying too hard to be hip. I'll use another one of the ugliest cars I've seen recently as an example, the yet-to-be-released "new" Camaro. At least Ford sorta stuck with the original Mustang's lines and overall shape instead of the bizarro-on-steroids look of the Camaro. I'm a Camaro owner, and am insulted at what they've done, its not even close to being a good retro look at all.
Sorry to have gotten off the topic on a bit of a rant, but I was getting sick of everyone raving about how teriffic the new Mustang looks, at least I'm not the only one.
