Hey everyone.

I just wanted to share my experiences with my 6 on my first road trip with it. I went from Silver Spring, MD to Elmira, NY (300 miles). I bought the car 9 days ago, so on the way to NY I was still breaking it in. It got looks everywhere!!! Other drivers losing focus on the highway to stare... people at the rest area and BK I stopped at coming up and saying "I have never seen such a cool looking car". It was awesome to have so much attention! I finally get to Elmira, NY where no Mazda dealers exist for about 100 miles. People all over the town were staring and "awe"ing at it. I took my family for a few car rides and they loved it! The leather interior was really comfortable.

On Saturday I went to Binghamton University to attend my sisters graduation and was the only 6s in the parking lots (as far as I could see!...I did see a 6i, bare bones though). People here, especially students were all over the car.. peeking in the windows and doing the ever popular walk around! All in all the attention was awesome!

In regards to handling and performance, the car is so nice! Handles beatifully with a minor left pull which beocmes noticeable on the shitty upstate NY roads. I am still getting comfy with the manumatic. I usually keep it in Auto unless im on the highway and need a jolt to pass, and even then the car has the power! The windows down and the sunroof open made a lot of wind noise, but im not usually the type to drive with all the windows open and the sunroof... so I did not find this too annoying. In the city, the windows down, moonroof open and radio on..... not enough wind to cause much noise.

The car grips the road nicely at high speeds and the steering is very responsive. I wish the car had a little more initial getup, but at the same time it keeps from the really bad jack rabbit line starts. The car is very quiet both in the city and on the highway. I am amazed at the silence when idleing... its like the car isn't on!

Few gripes I have... fusebox is in a crappy location.. I knocked the cover off about 5 times in 5 days... so once a day! If you make one seat power, do the passenger side as well! Put 4 license plate holes in! 2 stink, and if your plat gets bowed a little everytime you shut the trunk the plate hits my paint... I have a little wear spot from that already. Finally, add a power lock feature to keep kids from opening the windows while in the back seat.

Other than that, awesome awesome car. Im hoping to have many good years with it.

Sounds nice.. Enjoy upstate NY.. My family's cabin is up there around Binghamton and the roads suck! :p Good choice on the 6!

I will certainly agree with you about the roads here in the Binghamton area! They stink!
I hope you enjoyed your little visit though, and I would really recommend trying a speidie (if you never have before) next time you visit. :D

I grew up in Elmira! I know all about speidies! :) I love upstate New York... comapred to down here by DC, the poeple up in NY are so much nicer and more laid back. Down here everyone seems to be about racing to red lights and tailgating and road rage! :)

I live in Silver Spring. You didn't even say hi!

Yesterday I saw my 3rd '6 on the road- a black premium packaged model, no sport. I saw it in my rear view rather far away, so I slowed until it caught up, then sped up along side. The guy didn't even see me- no mutual appreciation there. If that was you... GRRR

Crazy...I'm surprised your car doesn't havea window lockout feature. I know my 6s has it. It's great to have when your friends are in the car and you just ate some baked beans and chili. Lock those windows and let 'em rip:D

Try Rt. 10 N/S. Get on off of Rt. 90. One of the 10 Best Roads in the country, and right here in NYS. I'm putting another 500 on my 6s, then taking a day and blasting up and down it.

Nothing like it here in NY.

I don't think the people in Binghamton have seen electricity, let alone a Mazda6 :)

Are you sure you don't have this? Just behind the window buttons on the driver's door there is a window lock button that locks all the windows (but the driver can still roll them up/down). Also, there is a child-lock mechanism on the back doors that you can set that will prevent the doors from being opened from the inside. They will only open by using the outside handle. I'm not exactly sure how to do this but I remember reading about it in the owner's manual.

Perhaps these features are only on the 6s, but I would think they'd all have it.

How about "no, it doesn't void any warrantees THAT WE KNOW ABOUT SO FAR"
