I finally got the chance to head back to the track today. Was able to break into 13's. I'm not completely stock I have a MS CAI.

This run was back to back ontop of it.

[email protected]3mph

0.544
1.770
5.905
8.830
77.284

Fastest 60' I've ever gotten. The previous run I got 1.789 60' with a 14.087 1/4 at 95.254.

I had a full tank of gas and I've got a GT model which is a little heavier. I was consistently hitting 14.1 and 14.2. As a comparison my previous best before the intake was 14.3-14.4. You can fell the difference in the top end. I was tempted to shift into 5th but didn't. It felt like I was losing time staying in 4th. Going to try that next time.

I raced an srt-4 and the result was 14.2 vs 14.8, win for me. The best I saw him run was a 14.4.

EXcellent mate. How did you launch? Any dfiference to previous runs?
[/b]
4500rpm, same as before but I was letting out the clutch a little faster than usual. My previous best 14.358 was a 1.880 60' launch.

Nice numbers!

Do you happen to recall your shift points?

What gear did you roll out in?

I shift at 6k rpm, finished at the top of 4th. When you shift into the next gear you're starting at 4500rpm. So the gears are insainely quick.

Hopefully I can go back next weekend. I've got my shifting pretty much down. Sure there's room for improvement but at least I'm consistent now. My times are dependant on my launches. So I can try new things and see what helps and what doesn't. I'm definetly going to try shifting into [email protected]

Congrats!! :highfive:

Thanks! I wish I could of gotten there stock :)

i read somewhere that the fastest times will be with shift points that decrease slightly with each gear. at opposed to 6k each time. can anyone confirm this? Also I've heard shifting to 5th before the trap will slow you down too.

Shift at 6200 1-2, 5800 2-3, 5700 3-4, and 5700 in 4th. These RPMs always yield the fastest times for me.

I went to the track on Friday... My first run w/ very little heat soak...
[email protected]
60' ... 1.929
330' ... 5.752
1/8 ... 8.919 @ 78.91
1000' ... 11.662
Amb. temp. ~20C, Shifting 6500, 6200, 6000, 5500. (bad shift points)

My last run was another good one, but lots of heat-soak...
14.064 @ 96.66
60' ... 1.933
330' ... 5.773
1/8 ... 8.988 @ 74.90
1000' ... 11.717
Shifting at 6200, 5800, 5700, 5500... Notice the lower MPH for 1/8 mile, but still ran a 14.06 because of the better shift points.

I'm willing to give it a try but the time spent on 2nd and 3rd is going to be insainely quick. When I look down after a shift I'm starting at 4500rpm.

Yes it is quick, I'm still trying to figure out the best rpm to switch 4th. I can't hold 4th to the end of the quarter mile because it would end up around 6300. I've been trying different rpms to get the highest MPH. So far 5500 might be a bit too low, 6000 is too high. The reflash has altered 4th gear power so I'm still working on it.

I did a quick check based on a stock dyno and it would appear that only in 1st gear is there any reason to stay past 6,000 rpms. From there it varies between 5700-5900 rpms. The only thing I cannot account for is lag after the shift, no matter how small it might be benificial to take it 1-200 rpms higher just for the increased compressor speed after the shift. This is all theoretical and number crunching, but going to 5th would be a way early shift, like 5700 rpms, it all depends in you can amke up the lost time fomr the shit up by being in your TQ band in 5th or wether sucking out 4ths and avoiding the shift is better...

I plan on trying it out this weekend. I'm going to try 6200 for 1st and 5700~ for the other gears. I'll see how this helps then I'll also try shifting into 5th instead of riding out 4th.

I'm hoping to get into the 13.6-13.7 range. Afterall my 13.9 was a back to back run. The car didn't even rest for a second. There was barely anyone at the track. I just got off drove up to the line and went again :)

I would venture to say hold 2nd gear closer to 5900, the rest at 5700 should be good. Skip shifting to 5th, if you can. The .1 seconds it will take you to shift to fifth will be the difference between 13.7 and 13.8.
Are you doing a full throttle lift between shifts?

Thanks,
Jason

I'm not keeping it completely floored but very close to it. I find keeping it completlely floored is overkill.

i'm just wondering why you guys are running slower than stock times? i ran a 13.79 stock in my MS6. then i had issues with the ecu and axle but it did it lol. the issues were 4 days later though.

And you define stock time how? What is the best possible time by forum members?

The best review time was a 14.2 if I'm not mistaken.

Didn't see that one. I haven't seen that many people on here get 13's. I'm sure driving skills have a lot do with it. I'm no drag racer but I'm getting pretty decent. What's more important for me is consistency. And I'm consistently hitting low 14's so I'm pretty happy with that. Maybe I'm shifting at the wrong rpm's like some are suggesting. 10th's of a second are easy to lose.

I know a few forum members have gotten a 13.7 and everyone seems to think that anyone can run these times all the time. Well it ain't that easy. Maybe there's other factors in play. Everyone I've seen hit 13.7 has a sport Model. Maybe the added weight of a GT model is making it harder. I don't know.

p5freek has a probably the most modified car on here and he's hitting 13.5. He seems like a pretty skilled driver from the vid's he's posted.

Not sure of the total weight difference, but every 100 lbs should be worth about a thenth of a second in the 1/4.

Thanks,
Jason
