2020 GT 2.5L T-I4 no mods-daily driver. Took it in for my second ever oil change at 11,400. Denied tire rotation because the rears were down to 3/32 and 4/32! Fronts were 6/32 and 7/32. I was flabbergasted. I had the tires rotated with the first oil change on 5/26/21, but the depths weren't noted on the invoice. I keep the tires inflated to 35 lbs. Stock Ziex ZE001 A/S I haven't done anything extreme. I don't haul lead bricks Lol. Probably 5k of these are highway miles. The wear appears to be even down the middle, so alignment or balance isn't the issue. There's no recall on this tire size. Manufacture date of 50/19. It's crazy. Has anyone else experienced this? Theories or shared experiences

Out of curiosity, what's the treadwesr rating on those Falkens? The Dunlops that came on my 2016 3 carried a rating of 380. Lots of folks bitched loudly about burning through them in 20k miles. Lucky me, mine lasted almost 50k and I loathed them lol.

Seems weird that the majority of the wear is on the rears. Typically FWD cars wear down the front tires more, and typically that is even more apparent on high-powered FWD cars. I try to keep a log of treadwear when I change my tires twice a year (to swap on the snow tires) and all of my FWD cars, including my 6, have always worn down the fronts faster than the rears. And 360 treadwear is not particularly high, but this wear might be excessive depending on how you have treated them.

Have you rotated them in the past? Where do you live and what does your normal driving consist of? I mean I wouldn't be surprised if this was fighting LA or SF traffic everyday, but if you drive on rural highways at 55mph all the time then this would be super weird.

How many bodies you got in that trunk? XD

But seriously, that seems far too quick for regular DDing. I've run falkens a couple times and they last a good 30k easily. With full highway driving I believe I've gotten 60k+ out of a set too.

The rears WERE the fronts and with how shitty the Tiger Paws wore on my 3, im not surprised. OP, get some Conti ExtremContact DWS06+ to replace them. Or talk to Mazda and make them understand you shouldnt be replacing them this quick. Sometimes the tire manu will work with you with a credit to new tires if you replace them with a brand they make.

@Cassedaway
This is not a bad idea and a good tire recommendation as well.
Just out of curiosity has the alignment been checked recently? I know it's new but... 🤷‍♂️
My Mk1 (different beast entirely, I know) would destroy the inner shoulders when in the middle of factory alignment recommendation. When I went to a 0° camber (extreme "limit" of factory spec.) all that wear stopped. It could be a similar type thing where the rear toe is adjusted to scrub a bit in order to keep the sidewalls pulled taught and improve turn in feel (like the 90's Acura NSX's that were notorious for their tire appetite).
Always check you tire pressure cold and I would modify the pressure to how the tire is wearing as opposed to strictly following the B-pillar pressure number. Start with that number always but vary depending if your outer portions are wearing heavier (underinflated) or center portion is wearing faster (overinflated). The tire size and rating and manufacturer of tire will vary this slightly from stock.

I don't know too much about alignment but something isn't right. Weird how the Mazda handles extra weight in the rear with the tires. I thought those were the fronts. My Falkens had about 18k miles before replacement. They were worn especially in the front but not as much as you. I replaced them long ago for Michellin pilot sport 3+ a/s's. Worth the upgrade if you're considering new tires.

From everything I've read in these forums, the Falken Ziex tires (360-A-A) that came OEM with my 2020 GT leave something to be desired especially in terms of tire wear. I got my 6 with 12.7K miles in February and now have 19.1K mile as of today. I have not had a rotation done since I've owned it and checking the tires today I can't see any wear difference between the fronts and the rears and the cheap tire depth gage I have indicates that the tread depth is at the beginning of the 'Fair' mark for all tires. I figure that I'll be replacing them by the middle of next year. Three choices I've bookmarked are General GMAX AS-05 (read about on this forum), Continental Extreme Contact DWS-06 Plus (read about on this forum) and the Pierilli P Zero All Season Plus.

The OEM Falkens are just sh!t, plain and simple.

They're essentially Crossover/SUV touring tires that Mazda threw on because Falken was the lowest bidder when it came time to get tires for the 6. I first thought that they helped to keep tread noise down when the 6 was tweaked for 2018, but after replacing them with General G-Max AS-05s (fantastic tire, BTW!), they didn't. Not at all.

I think I got at absolute most 21K miles on them when I bought the Generals, and they were worn down more than I thought was safe (which is usually 4/32s or so). They squealed and broke traction any time I hit the gas a little harder than usual, almost constantly when it was wet, and hydroplaning became a real issue when the tread was below 6. They were by far the worst OEM tires I've ever suffered with.

The fact you got such low mileage on them is no surprise to me. In fact, they did you a favor! Now's the time to get some decent performance tires that should've been OEM on the 6 from Day One!

The tires already mentioned are great choices (of course, I can vouch for the Generals). I'd add the Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate to the list as well. Nothing but praise for them also, especially in the wet.
