if its like pa you would need a programmer to elimate the check engine light but they are still supossed to do a visual inspection so if you went with high flow cats you should be ok if you go catless youll need to know a shop that will pass it anyways

Illinois' emissions testing system is fully automatic. The tester cannot manipulate the results. Equipment gets hooked up, tester starts car and waits for the computer to spit out the results.

only cook county has emisions. the other 90% of IL doesnt have any at all. so its not IL wide. just the top right corner of il. lol

you can replace it all with aftermarket parts though even in cook co. you just have to be able to pass there sniff tests. so as long as you have a cat in place, and the cars not insanely loud. you should be good.

Let's say, for instance, I install some CPE or MSDS headers. Is there a way to make it work without primary O2 sensors or an EGR valve? I'm not sure how to get around that. Especially if they were to inspect my engine.

You need your primary O2 sensors. They adjust the fuel mixture in the engine. The secondary ones, you don't need. They can be replaced with 2 simulators, one for each O2.

get up on 6crew.com, and post in the great lakes section. we have quite a few members with 6s's that have full exhaust. gerryb just did the MSDS headers and everything. and lives in mundelien. so i know he deals with emissions there. so you can obviously get away with it. id just make a post there, and ask the other 6s owners in the area

Pypes Performance is one of the world’s largest and most respected manufacturers of Catback exhaust systems, headers and exhaust tips. They develop their products with award winning software and in depth research and development to make sure your exhaust system not only lasts but performs like it should. The use computer controlled CNC mandrel bending machines to insure flow is optimum. They have over 100,000 sq feet of inventory and production space so you know they mean business.
Such sounds are very annoying and it may upset many individuals as it causes noise pollution to the environment. In order to avoid this, one should ensure that they have a proper exhaust system.

Put on a good, quality aftermarket cat like MagnaFlow or Walker, and you'd likely be ok. Their sites list the engine displacement each model is designed for. Don't skimp and buy some no name POS from Ebay, or from one of the tuners/suppliers. A good cat only costs $60-90.

I wouldn't spend the money on simulators without trying things first. All 4 of my sensors are upstream of my cat and I've been running without simulators for over a year. I've yet to receive a CEL. It's bizarre, and it's not the norm, but it's been working for me. --knock on wood--

Pics attached. This one's for Karl. Check the grime! I had to even wipe it so you could see the name!
