Hey everybody! Been browsing around a while but havn't posted anything. Thought I'd share a couple pics of my new exhaust setup since i know there aren't that many options for those who don't want to shell out $500+ for a bolt on setup. I just went with the muffler deletion, and it didn't turn out too bad. I've cut mufflers off a number of 4 cylinder cars and they often sound like sh## afterwards, but the Speed actually has a pretty nice sound. Also, with this setup, if i drive gently i can't even hear it on the highway, no drone or annoying noise, but if i down shift and put my foot down it will rattle the change in the cup holders. Sorry for the blurry phone pics:
Driver side:
Tip in the surround:
Required 2 x 90 elbows, 2 x 16" (i think) straight pieces, and 4 x weld on hangers. I reused the stock flanges and just welded new pipe to them, took about an hour. Pulled the stock muffles and supported exhaust at the T with a jack. Cut off the flanges and bolted them back in place. Then i tacked the pipe together on the car to get the tips centered right, pulled the pipe off the car to finish the welds, the bolted everything back on and welded the hangers in place. Took out the jack and everything stayed nice and lined up.
And just one pic of the car for fun, because the 6 is sexy:
