Nope. Numbers are assigned as payments for the draw are receieved.

I'm unclear as to how the random selection method works... it was vaguely explain on the main page, but it seems like some info was missing from the explanation, can you elaborate?

Negative. Ask the winner of the Eibach springs, I have no idea who he is.

I'll get Steve in here to fully explain how the selection process is. He can explain it better..

Here I am.

So...here's how the draw works.

It's done using a mathematical operator called

h mod c.

c = number of contestants
h = number of hits the forum will have received this month.

Given c, and h, "h mod c" produces a number between 0 and c-1. Add one and you have a number between 1 and c. That number will be the number of the winning ticket. This is 100% fair, since it is virtually impossible for anyone to predict or influence the exact number of monthly hits we will have received at the moment of the end of the raffle.

An example:

Let's say there is 125 contestants ©,
and 8125212 hits (h) the actual month.

h mod c is calculated this way:

Dividing 8125212 with 125, getting 65001 full (and some decimals).

8125212-(65001*125) is 87.

The operation above givs a number between 0 and c-1 (in this case 0 to 124). But noone is contestant number zero, the first one is number one. And we don't want to exclude the last contestant from the draw. So, to get the winning ticket number within the range 1-125, we have to add one to this. 87+1, thus the winner is no 88.

This is a very simple procedure, and it is impossible to guess the number of hits and/or the number of contestants. That counts for a fair and square draw.

Besides, the one who make the draws is me, and I don't even know Guju personally, and I get no money (and no fame... ;) ) from this, so...fixing the competition would be of no gain to me.

We are being very serious about everything being fair. Just so you know.

I will elaborate a bit more:

In our example, the math operation 8125212-(65001*125) actually equals this:

8125212/125=65001.696.

Keep only the decimals. 0.696

Multiply them with C: 0.696*125=87

The result is a number within the range 0 to C, in this case 0-124. And then adding one gives it the correct range to match all contestants.
