I just brought my car a Mazda dealership. They told me that I have an engine mount crack. He made it sound like a favor that he was going to try to get it covered by warranty. is this not a warranty issue?

i have a man trans and i guess i have worn that out too.

i drive 45 freeway miles a day to work. i am quite surprised that i am having these problems. he told me i must drive the car too hard. i think he said this strictly because I have a K&N CAI.

Yeah, that trans mount sucks!!! It is a 3/50 warranty issue. If you are within 3/50, then there is no favor about it. It is covered. Now CP-E has a nice replacement, but if you are still in warranty, let Mazda buy this one and then get a "good one" next go around! ;)

agreed, if mazda is going to pay for it then let them. of course the cpe mount is only around $130. and if you do drive aggressive it would be perfect for you.

no? if your mounts are destroyed then you probably drive pretty aggressive. aggressive driving would shorten the life of your clutch as well.

it sounds like you need to go aftermarket for both parts.

Ummm, not really, though the mount wear can be accelerated by the clutch chatter. Also, the worn mount makes the clutch problem feel worse. By the way, what clutch problem are you having?

If your in service date was Oct '03 then you are good until that date this year!

You guys do know it is a 4 year and not 3 year, 50k miles warranty right? And yes, it is a warranty issue.

I got a complete care coverage 60 month/100,000 mile warranty fro Mazda. Are there certain milestones where they only cover certain items. Like I have 60k on my car, would the mounts be covered for me?

You usually feel a rattly/klunky feeling in the driveline on and off the throttle. When it get bad enough you can also feel it through the steering wheel - especially making turns and low speeds.

Could be. Especially if it is under warranty, get it in and get it checked.

i took my car in because the engine revs surge when shifting and in 5th gear. for example, i can cruise on the freeway at 55 and then accellerate to pass and the revs surge and then fall back and then steadily increase. my car also does this when shifting at 3rd gear and above. it has never happen at start or 2nd gear.

the mazda people told me i had an engine mount crack. i dont think i drive my car hard. i drive fast at times. however, i spend much of time going against traffic on the freeway. my car spends most of its time in cruise control.

after tlaking to peoplea t work, i think i need a second opinion. i am going to have them fix the engine mount and then take it somewhere else.

First, your car is in warranty. Second, the mount is a warrantable repair regardless. Third, your clutch can be warranted, too!!! Do a search herein and you will come up with a growing number of individuals who had their clutches replaced beyond the 12/12 period that the dealers and Mazda try to adhere to. I had mine done recently at 45K miles!!! That is good news for you because now there is a precedence that makes it hard for them to deny you this repair withing the 4/50 period!

P.S. Chain of command at your dealership on this will be: Service Manager, General Manager, Mazda Rep, Mazda CR. Work them over and use this site for reference. Good luck!!! ;)

Yeah i am planning on it. I need to do the 60k service soon. I had posted something about it a week ago but no one responded. I was wondering if I could do the stuff myself. I just had it state inspected at 60k, so I would assume that would take care of the brake inspection and all that good stuff since that is all required in a state inspection, so that really only leave oil change, ait filter, and spark plugs...all which r simple things. Can I buy them and do it myself, or does warrenty require certified mechanic???

Also why does everyone refer to the 4/50 period. Is this the most common warrenty or it this actually a limit to when certain things may be fixed, regaurdless of warrenty length??? Like i have a total care 60 month/100k, so is my clutch covered until that mark???

You are correct for '03-'06. Click this: Mazda new car warranty link - low and behold the '07 warranty has changed! FYI.

Assuming you are in the U.S., your Mazda warranty is 4/50. I assume you have a 60/100 extended warranty? No, your extended warranty will not likely cover the clutch.

i think i am going to argue that a broken engine mount has led to my clutch issues. i have read this in another thread. it seems logical to me. they are fixing my motor mount and then i am going to take it to another dealer to have them check it out. if this does not work, i am calling mazda to complain.

everyone, thanks for all your help.
