Dumping the clutch...

I have an ATX 6s, and I know you need a MTX to dump the clutch, but I found out that if you put it in netwroll give it some gas and change to drive it works that way to- I havent tried it on my car because I dont want to mess up my car, I also know that if you hold the shifter between gears the clutch will lift up and you can just hold it between Drive and newtroll, then drop to Dive it works that way to, do you know if it ok to do this or does it mess up anything?

You probably gonna f*** up the torque convertor and some other transmission components.
what if I just hold it between gears, will that work?
No, thats not a good idea either, its the same thing. You can load the car before you take off by holding both the gas and brake, but this isnt ideal either though as far as i know, less "bad" then the neutral to drive thing. Then again, im no atx expert.
o-ok, Thanx
What you're referring to is what is known as a "neutral drop" and it is one of the leading causes of transmission failure. Going from reverse to drive (and vice versa) without stopping is another thing that will damage an ATX quickly too.

I learned how to do this when I was young and stupid. It took about a week to destroy the transmission on my '91 Ford Tempo (first car), but it sure did peel out. $700 later (for a transmission rebuild), I learned my lesson. Be gentle on your automatic, it's not designed to do that sort of thing. The best way to launch hard is to simply turn off the traction control and floor it. You can load it up using the brakes, but that's not exactly good for the transmission either if you intend to keep it for a long time to come.
how do you turn off the traction control?

And also, I dont do this on streets, I know a parking lot that is super slick, you can peel out with out even pushing the gas half way, so it it dosnt strain your car or bald your tires, pretty much everyone from my skool goes there to slide around and play Fast and the Firuos

I don't see the harm of an occasional burnout on the streets. You have to show those Civic drivers who is boss on occasion! :drive:

On my 6, there is a TCS OFF button located just to the left of the steering wheel near the brightness control for the cluster illumination. I don't know if all 6s have traction control. Odds are that if there is no switch, you don't have it.
oh! so thats what that is!

I pushed that one day by mistake, I didnt know what it was so I pushed it again and turned it back on- oops

P.S. dude- tell me about it, those civic owners realy do need to be shown whoes boss sometimes!

I like to call them "members of the not-so-fast, and not-so-furious racing team". Nothing like your car sounding like a wet fart and plodding along at the rate of a detuned Geo. :sarc:
If you want to put on a smoke show pull up on the parking brake and floor it. especially in that slick parking lot you speak of. If you catch too much grip though you may end up draging the rear wheels. Then you may want to load up first using regular brake as mentioned before.

You can feel safe buying my 6 because I have never, and will never do something like that to a car that I have worked so hard to pay for. The guy asked for sujestions and that is mine.

However like most, this is not my first car. I am mostly past my tire shredding days of my youth. But I have never blown a transmision doing a nuetral drop. I know that is pure luck and I was fortunate.

Sorry - I should have made it clearer that I was just kidding :nana:
*sigh* You just dont seem like your getting any more intelligent....

Please take your 6 back into the dealership and buy something else. I dont want you fucking up a perfectly good car.

BTW.... We really need a spell check on here. God damn..

C'mon guy, we've all been there - you're young, want to impress your friends / fit in and simply don't know any better. At least he came here to ask before he just beat the hell out of his car. You have to learn these things sometime, better to post on a board asking before learning the hard way. No need to barb him with statements like that, what does that accomplish?
you Take your 6 back to the dealer

and its not a perfectly good car, its much better than that

hi,

just joining this little thread,

I'm always looking for a way to "launch" or as close as to that as you can in an automatic to get quicker starts off the line...obviously, I didn't need a thread to tell me not to neutral drop (ouch for the tranny), and my friend told me about "power breaking" (the ol' lay in on the breaks and peel out trick, I thought that was just gonna fuck up the breaks, but I thought that was safer for the slush box), but you guys say the best way to do it is to just turn off the TCS and then floor it right off...my question is, will you be able to get off the line quick enough to hang with a MTX car...please excuse the ignorant question...I know more than it seems, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to ask.
