Hi all. I have a 2020 Accord and the LKAS keeps my car in the lane, but the 2020 Mazda 6 Grand Touring Reserve did not. Does the 2021 version do it?
My Accord drives itself in the lane. Many newer cars do that. I use it when appropriate and like it.My 3 does it. It wont actually steer the car, just beep and then rumble the wheel when you go too far. My strong advice is never rely on a nanny like this, in fact i keep mine off.
Lane tracing seems to be a new phrase being used by manufacturers. I tested the Mazda's LKAS at highway speed. Three of them now, two 2020's and a 2021. It has been suggested I turn all safety features on and to there highest sensitivity level to maximize LKAS. I might try that today, because so far it has not worked at all.It is important to know the distinction between 3 similar features that do slightly different things:
Lane Keep Assist (LKAS) - helps steer you away from the edge of the lane when you drift near the edge of the lane
Lane Centering Assist - a higher level of LKAS that keeps your car centered in the lane
Lane Departure Warning (LDW) - warns you with beeps and/or vibrations when you're about to veer out of the lane
I am pretty sure the 2020 Accord and 2020 Mazda 6 have LKAS and LDW. The degree of effectiveness may be different though. Also keep in mind these systems may have different threshold speeds below which they do not work, and they will stop operating and warn you if you take your hands off the wheel for too long.
