I just installed Ksport coilovers on my 6 lovin it! I have the ability to adjust the stiffness as well as ride height. After going with just aftermarket springs (Mazdaspeed Hatch Springs), then adding aftermarket struts/shocks (Bilstein HD Series), and then finally upgrading to coilovers (KSport Version RR)... I'd say just go for coilovers and do it right the first time. Not sure how low you want to go, but with the height adjustability, you can gradually lower it as you get more comfortable with driving a lowered vehicle. The cool thing is, that even if you decide to slam it, you don't lose much suspension travel, so the ride can still be smooth. If you do lower the car, make sure you upgrade to some adjustable endlinks as well. I have AWR's and they're great!
