At what RPM does it shift up for you automatically? Is it like 4-5k? What if someone drove in that mode without knowing and without shifting up for an hour? would it kill the transmission?
It doesn't shift up for you. It downshifts for you though.
I've used it for going down long hills so I don't have to use my brakes so much. And after coming to a stop light I've forgotten I was in manual mode a few times.
seriously though, how would someone not notice they were driving in 1st gear for a whole hour?
Yes it would ruin something. It locks you in that gear. It is capable of downshifting, but not upshifting. You would be able to notice though because when you hit the shift point it Revs up like a B. I have forgot a few times.
As stated it wont up shit for you. And it depends how it was driven for that hour really.
Although I don't see how someone would not notice when they stop accelerating and their engine is screaming at ~7K rpm.
You'd have to be either retarded or drunk/ high out of your mind. If anything you'd probably burn up your engine first. This looks like a challenge for the Myth Busters lmao
As said, the car doesn't upshift for you. I've noticed that it will downshift from fourth to third once you slow down to about 25, and 2/3/4 to 1 once you slow down to about 10 or a little under 10.
it's the same having someone with a manual drive in the wrong gear....trans won't really matter, but the engine might not like it much. when my car is at the track it is only under 5.5k for maybe 2min for every 30min i drive...it's an engine, it'll be fine.
the car is so touchy to pedal variations in high rpm's that it would be hard for someone not to realize is as well.
