Soooo... a good friend of mine, who doesn't even own a Mazda, but is one of the many asking me "When the hell are you getting that damn fuel pump?!" took it own his own to search.

He emails me yesterday w/ a link to the RPM store, saying that they have some CPE pumps available. I was like "I doubt it, because I've been harassing CPE and SU for my pump every couple of days, and the shipment hasn't gone out." I checked, and it had the little green light "available." Of course it was too late to call to confirm, but that's exactly what I did first thing this morning. Well, it turns out they just got some pumps in a couple days ago. Ordered mine this morning, and it's shipping today!! WOHOO!!!

I don't care that it costs a few more bucks there... I can't wait another week or two for CPE to ship to SU and then to me. So, RPM had 6 (5 now :)), and SU will be getting them in soon as well. Just wanted to share the good news... it's been 2 months since my poor car has been down. I'm hoping to get my mits on it by Weds of next week, and see my mech on Thursday or Friday.

In related news... I'm getting the w/m installed, but I'm not going to run it for a while. I have to finish tuning the ebcs, and get my OL/WOT afrs spot on before I start running meth. I was still tuning the ebcs when the everything broke, and I was running pig rich. I was going to tune my OL/WOT afrs once I got the ebcs tuned just right so that I was hitting my boost targets on the nose.... I didn't get to that before everything broke, lol.

So, HOORAY FOR ME!! And the good news for you is you no longer have to hear me bitching about waiting for my fuel pump!!!!! LOL

i've always loved buying stuff from RPM. they always take care of me. PG has been another story, and I can't ever successfully complete any sort of transaction with SU, so i can't actually give my opinion on them :S

good to hear you can finally actually go zoom-zoom in the car instead of just sitting in it and making revving noises.:D

Thanks Fellas. I gotta lot of things going down when I see my mech, hopefully next week:

1. Flush hard fuel line & fuel rail, install pump
2. PTP IM spacer & coolant bypass
3. New serp belt
4. Labonte Stage 2 w/m install + FS + bcs FS

I was going to do the egr delete, but I don't know if I'll have time to get my car inspected first (it's due at the end of the month anyways). This should be interesting, because I was using a boost based map before, and now I'm switching to load based, and I don't know how the ebcs will respond if I just paste my wgdc + boost dynamic tweaks I made from my boost based to the load based. I'm a bit nervous, because Forzda's and mine were WAY different on the boost based map. I'm gonna have to start scratching my head, and working on a couple maps this weekend. If anything, I'll just cut the entire wgdc down 20% and run low as hell boost to see how she responds. Better than the alternative, with no meth running :O

Geez man!! About fucking time!! Now the bitching can cease... :D
Right? But the bitching will never cease! haha I'm just sooooo glad that there is a CPE pump w/ my name on it, and it's on it's way. Soooooo happy. It got picked up in TX by Fedex Ground a couple hours ago :D.

Here she is... smells delicious :)

It came with this 'Bench Test Certificate.' I knew they broke them in and tested them, but never seen the results before. They don't mean much to me (other than it passing), but thought I'd share in case anyone was curious or knows the significance of these numbers :

Pump #X was tested on X/X/XX at 100% load for 5 minutes. Total test time of 45 minutes on high pressure fuel pump stand.

Leakage: Pass

Pump Efficiency: 81.3%

Flow (1425cc/min): 1512 cc/min

Anyone know what they mean by pump efficiency or the significance of the flow numbers? Like most, I'm used to seeing PSI not cc/min.

So I drove her onto the flatbed earlier and had her carted to my mech to do a bunch of crap, haha. Time for a stiff drink to celebrate. Hopefully she'll be all set tomorrow afternoon, or I'll have to polish off the bottle.

Thanks man :)

Yay! I should also have my replacement PTP pump in by this weekend. Pump issues FTMFL.
Ruh-Ro. I hope you get that straightened out without the massive problems I've had. Yeah, I'm psyched about getting the pump finally... gotta hold off on the celebrating until fuel pressure returns for sure though. GL w/ your pump man... keep us posted.

I returned my PTP pump internals before installing it. Lost 10%, but I just couldn't do it. Not after seeing all the problems and not knowing if mine was from their "bad" batch. And when I asked them for some reassurance, I got some poorly written email saying "I think you'll be OK", but to let them know if "fuel drops" and they will send me a new one. My stock pump is still good, but I'll be getting a CPE or KMD in the not-so-near future.

I know you've guys heard this question alot, but when is it "time" to upgrade the pump like mod-wise, I guess. No thread jack intended.
I guess if you are modding for more boost or drive your car at WOT a lot, it would be wise to upgrade the pump before the stock pump begins to have problems holding pressure at WOT (below ~1200 PSI). A lot of people upgrade when they first notice this pressure drop at WOT, but I don't want to wait until that happens. I have to wait a little more because I'm in Canada and depend on other people to bring these parts to me to avoid paying extra. Whatever you do, DO NOT buy from PTP. There is a lack of professionalism there and they seem to work with the "try this - if it doesn't work we'll send you another one" attitude.

When you up the boost from OEM is the time you will see problems. I ran my OEM pump for quite a while after my bolt-on mods and early on with the XEDE tune because the AFR was fine at WOT. However, I did run logs regularly and saw my Fuel Pressure would drop into the 900-1100 psi range occassionally right after hitting WOT, but would recover fairly quickly and hold >1200 through redline. When I determined the car was ready for "mo powa", the HPFP upgrade is the FIRST thing to be done...

Bottom line is I waited, but I don't recommend it. If you're modded, include the HPFP upgrade before tuning for power.

Makes me sad in pants that you have to drop 630 dollars for a fuel pump... I"ll probably be looking at replacing my internals if that is still a viable option.

LOL Yeah, If you know what you're doing, the internals kit (I prefer KMD...) is the best choice. I've purchased 2 different internals kits (KMD & CDI) and inspected another (PTP) and IMO, the KMDs are the "best". They are designed and marketed for the 2.0 VW, but the VW HPFP(Hitachi) is essentially the same as ours other than the outer housing for the VW mounting design. I've been running the KMDs for some time now with perfect results. The KMDs have been around a LONG time with a proven track record, so there you have it, your call.
