i live in florida so i waited for a realllly hot day then i just peeled them off...then you use wax or goo gone to take the glue residue off...i think you should do it for sure. gives your car a more aggressive look.

I don't think there will be much fading. Your clear coat will be spotless so it'll show a line of perfectness for awhile lol just use some compound mix and blend and it should be fine I think. When my girlfriend goes back to school on Monday ill take them off and take some pictures. Its also raining here today so I didn't wanna take them off in the rain haha.

I live in Las Vegas and even with it's 110+ degree days, when I pulled off my door guards there was no fading.

What holds them on is the 3M sticky tape (the same stuff that holds the badges).

Just peel a little bit of the door guard and if all looks fine underneath RIPP ITT OFFF. Your car will look much sleeker with it off.

i had a slight ghost of the door guards for about a week. i had to get it through a nice wash, and wax job before it was all the way gone. but the car needed that anyways. lol. and mine just peeled off on a hot day. even the double sided sticky tape stayed stuck to the door guards. so i lucked out.

Before and after photo's! :D Got it all done and looks fantastic!!! There isnt any fading whatsoever and also this car has been parked outside always since ive had it. So Myth or Fact a 100,000 mile 2005 Mazda 6 will have tan lines when door guard strips are removed? Myth!!!!! No Tan Lines YAY!!!!!

isnt it crazy how much better a 6 looks without those things? they never really bothered me when i had them. but after removing mine, there's no way in hell i could ever deal with them being back on the car. they ruin the side view of the car now when i see a car with them.

It really does!!! I really recommended everyone to do this to their Mazda 6! I always wondered why everyone else's Mazda's looked better than mine... well now I know! The appearence of the car has scaled much higher now in looks!!! Now I just need new rims haha but unfortunately they are so expensive its hard for me to aford them :( working at Walmart sucks when you have 303 car payments and 178 insurance haha

There is one drawback of removing those guards. They act as a vibration damper. They are soft and heavy to dissipate noise emitted by those big body panels and help reducing road noise. When removed, you get the impression of closing doors of a little cheap car because of the "metal sheet noise".

Now mine are stuffed with Dynamat and it was planned anyway. But each time I get into my friend's car (6i without door guards), ouch, I don't like this noise. Sounds like a Swift door.

i remember those days. it was like that even with the door guards. lol. filling my A. B and C pillars along with all the open space in the frame rails got rid of that though. that was one of my 1st projects on the 6. make the thing not sound like a soup can. lol
