I was wondering the same thing. I don't plan on doing anything too drastic, but it is a concern. Does Mazda have a performance division that sells parts?

I want to share a story,

an alternator burned out out my 2015 M6 Touring with 15,000 miles on it (I don't drive a lot) in April this year,

I had a Racing Beat axle-back exhaust installed when I took it to the dealer, they honored the warranty and didn't mention a word about the exhaust.
Had that been an engine mod like an OVT, I think they might have said something then.

I took my Mazda 6 to the shop for dashboard update and the mechanic warned me about the interior led mod. He said that installing leds has caused the engine control unit to break. I didn't buy that explanation! I was an electrician for almost 10 years prior to my current job and I don't see any reason from the electronical POV how the leds could have any effect on the control systems. They are not even connected to the CAN bus from my understanding. I didn't want to argue with the mechanic as I want to maintain good relations with the shop so I just acted amazed...

I'll just add my .02 and say I would not rely on Magnuson Moss. As previously stated in the first page, the dealer know's it's more expensive to sue than it is to just pay to have your car fixed so even if your warranty shouldn't be voided it's ultimately at the discretion of the dealer and Mazda Corporate. Always assume that the the warranty is void. That being said certain dealers are always more strict than others so it never hurts to go for a second opinion especially ifs it's only an intake or exhaust and you can go back to stock. Last ditch effort is always to be the squeaky wheel on social media, companies don't like bad publicity.

By all means any modification will void warranty unless it is specified by manufacturer / tuner .

I deliberately bought NA model so I wouldn’t be tempted to mod the engine and have to worry about all this stuff

There is so much miss information in this thread it's to the point of comical.

Unless the modification you do to your car is the cause for your failure (if you have one) it does not void the warranty of the part that broke. It absolutely does NOT void the entire warranty of the car.

It is up to Mazda to prove the failure was do to the aftermarket part(s) installed.

Lets say you put some aftermarket suspension parts on the car and the AC seizes. The AC is still covered by the Factory warranty. Providing it's still under warranty....

If you want to add a mod, check with the dealer and see what they say before adding it IF you think it might be related to something you're worried about.
