Ive spent the better part of today shopping around for insurance since my present company jacked up their rates. NO ONE has information on these cars yet! I have had to explain to every agent I called the whole spiel about the 6 taking the 626's place and what not. Every company has to rate it as a 2002 model.

Are the agents here just behind or do companies in your area have info on the 6 yet?

I use progressive and they had no problems adding my car, i even looked on the webpage before i got the car and it was listed. They consider it a 4 door sedan so my insurance didnt even go up that much, haha suckers!

Yeah... insurance companies here consider the six a performance car.

Go figure.

As a young (22 year old) male driver, I would have thought my insurance would have been outrageous, but I was quoted ~$300/month at Allstate, which is about what I was expecting. It wasn't too difficult to get - I got my mom to shop for insurance for me :D

I finally got my policy written (after waiting 2 friggin hours!!) at a no-name company I hadnt even heard of. I got everything they offered and ended up spending LESS per month than when I was on my 6i through Allstate. Weird.

They did mess up the ID card though. It says 2003 626 ES :sarc

Farmers hooked me up on my 6s with no problems and only a few dollars more than my 2000 Neon was :)

Yeah, Geico asked the vin number and they said "2003 Mazda Mazda6 S?" Yep.. ok cool. Done.

Insurance rate was a couple bucks more than my previous Civic EX.

Everybody here seems to have done great on insurance, EXCEPT ME:(
Went up almost 100% from my last hooptie;
NY insurance sucks overall.
Anybody in NY on this board had any better luck than me? I'm paying about 350 a month.

Hey, I am only like 45 minutes from you, in Middletown. :) I pay like $500 every other month but my car is an '87. I have to wait and see what my insurance company (NYCM) will charge for the 6.

My car should be here in a few weeks(been waiting three months) Geico,Allstate,Liberty Mutual and Progressive all quoted me $2400 22/M in New Hampshire. My buddy suggested a small company with great customer service who quoted me $1350/yr, guess who I'm going with.

State Farm knew what it was here in MI, and insurance for my 6s is actually cheaper than the focus.

Focus' are damn death traps... Have you seen how unstable they are and how many recalls they have had? I can see why its cheaper :)
