Just bought my first car (used) and it looked good to me. I got home and my boyfriend (a mechanical engineer) seemed to think it's had things the "vehicle history report" didn't cover. Yes, I'm such a noob that I let them sell me a car without the best report.

If anyone has one of those monthly Carfax accounts and would be willing to run my VIN, I'd really appreciate knowing detail of what's been done to it so I can prepare for the worst.

My car was a former rental, as I bought it from Enterprise. Seems like it was actually not abused. Of course, I did run a VIN check on it before I bought it. The fact that your car has previously been in an accident seems to be the main problem. I bought mine with 28000 on it, now have it at 56000 and so far no problems. Is your car causing you any problems?

Rental means that all the scheduled maintenance that was supposed to be done to it, was DONE to it.

The likelihood IS higher that it was driven hard but not ALL rentals get driven like...well, rentals

what greg said, but then again I drive my 6 like a rental..... and I've owned it for 8 years now... so if it is in good mechanical condition and your happy, I wouldn't stress too much.

better to have a lot of info, than none and find out it is a lemon.

My 6i prior to being owned by it's previous owner was a rental, and it has been a dream to me, no issues at all. I've taken it through maintenance two times to double check everything, and comes out clean each time. The 6 is a hard car to kill.
