Swap them for control arms from the latest KF CX5, they are exact replacement for Mazda 6 but have a much improved bushing setup that has done away with this tuna can bushing and instead has a much narrower concentric tube like design. We in Asia prettyuch don't use these tuna can arms and don't bother looking for poly ones as the CX5 arms engineered the problem away.
Based on what you say - I've ordered two new control arms. We'll see how this goes. Will try to remember to come back here and give commentary.

The wishbones are fabricated steel ones, of course, and the internal portions have little paint, and the exterior is easily susceptible to surface rust, too. How do folks guard against this, i.e. prior to installing them? Seems like they should be abraded, externally, then a prime coat of red oxide and a couple of topcoats of chassis-black paint. The interiors... spray 'em up with cavity sealer, the good cavity sealer that creeps?

Well we have no winter here at the equator so the arms usually for outlast the bushes and ball joint that arms are changed way before rust can do any harm other than surface rust

My dealership pointed out to me that boots on the lower control arm links were torn, the bushings will dry out, and "clunking" will start.

76K miles on the car (2015), and it is driving great. Are the boots replaceable? Any maintenance I can do to make the control arms last longer?
