Cobb ACCESSPORT Group Buy...?

3635 Views 56 Replies 36 Participants Last post by  turbo_tom
When I had my 2003 WRX, the first thing I did was get the AccessPort when it was released. I was extremely impressed at the ease of use and results I got, as well as the support and ability to download maps online. I want to keep my warranty in tact (usually the first thing I ged rid of on a new car) and since I got my MS6 last week, I've been looking for a reflash, and this is the best route to go, hands down. :yesnod:

It is expected to be released this spring, so lets get a group buy going now! :) I'm thinking a 10 order minimum will work. I will contact Cobb tomorrow and see what they can do with pricing. Let's get a list going, who wants some?!

how can you GB something that hasn't even been released? its all speculation right now....
And w/o talking to the vender? I'm sure once you actually get them to agree on group buy... AND they actually get closer to release.... more ppl will stand up

Speculation...? They have it listed on their website...

The point of getting a group buy together now is that we will have enough buyers by the time it comes out, therefor ensuring getting it as soon as it is released. ;)

Good question! While we're at it, lets organize a group buy for the Microtech standalone EMS for the 6i/s!
this is really friggin silly when the item hasent even gone into production yet.
I e-mailed COBB several times trying to get info about the Accessport for another car but they did not care to reply one sentence... and they are supposedly THE Accessport authority in North America. :(

Really friggin silly... why do you say that? The best time to organize/place an order is before a product is officially available. Judging by the "Mazdaspeed6 AccessPort" page they have devoted to it on their website, I find it hard to beleive it's only a twinkle in Mr. Cobb's eye... it says available Spring 2007, does it not?

I am trying to be proactive. If you don't want an AP, then don't order one. This thread is to gauge interest for those who do. I already have 2-3 people that want to purchase AP's for their Evos, which are expected to be available around the same time. I'm sure by the time the product is available, we will have more than enough serious buyers to work out a decent group purchase deal.

Silo, I am sorry you could not get ahold of them when you tried. I was able to get in contact with them several times a few years ago when I got my AccessPort. I don't think I will have a problem this time.

I am considering buying one, but not 100% sure. It really depends on the effectiveness of CP-E's chip. I'll buy whichever one comes out first, and whichever works better with the new ATP turbo.
Maybe everyone who says its silly.. are the same people who laugh at the poor bastards camping out for PS3's a week in advance.... I'll get a Wii or PS3 eventually but I can wait 3-6 months and pay 1/2 to 1/10th as much for it... and get the same thing....

I guess my point is... If / when they release a good item I want for my car i'll do what I can to get it.... But I don't know much about this accessPort.... and what happens if CP-e or some other company makes one first... thats better? *shrug*

Honestly... the only ECU modding I want to do... will be windows based.... so I can run it on my Navi screen.... =)

It is in my opinion that trying to organize a group buy for a product that hasent even made production yet is a silly waste of time and will only make people wait incredibly long times with baited tounge until it finally does come out.

When it does come out the authorized dealers are going to get them first. Right now they are trying to meet a gigantic backorder for WRX accessports, a product that has existed for years.

Wait for the official release announcement, then orgainize a group buy, sitting on a stack of cash for that long is silly. There really isnt anything to be pro-active about. Its not like you are going to prevent anything from happening by getting a list of people together and making them wait collectively for a product that hasent even begun production yet.

Ok, when it comes time where they are actually available to order, it will likely take weeks to get enough people (like it always does). I want mine ASAP, so the fact that we already have a list, and everyone has alrerady saved up the money, etc. makes it happen that much sooner. I can get mine for 10% over cost at a dealer so I'm not too worried about it.... I just thought I'd organize something and be ready ahead of time... forget about it. :sarc:
Put me down.
Mike
People that arent interested should not even post GOD DAMN... Add me to the list please. Thank you.

yeah, sorry, personally, I think you should try this after it's released (or at least close to being released).

This is like the people that signed up for the 2007 Camry in advance just cause it's made by Toyota. They didn't know performance, price, looks, etc. Kinda the same here...we don't know anything except who's making it and what car it's for. <shrug>
This is a general interest thread an no more. Actualy GB's can only be run through approved postings in the GB section. So therefore, post your interest all you like and forget about worrying if this should be done now or not. Companies like to see interest in a product they are about to release, so it will inspire them to be even nicer to you when its out.
I'm in.
