Hey all,
I have a 04 Mazda 6 with a check engine light on. I was in an accident not too long back... anyway the dealer says its an exhaust manifold sensor that is going out. I think they are guessing because i disconnected my battery and reconnected it and the light went off.. (it reset all the sensors..) but it came back on again and this time my left front blinker went out. But it didnt burn out. I pulled out the light bulb and put it back in and it started working again. I think there is a short somewhere in the wireing. BUT WHERE?? How can a check engine light and a blinker have similar problems? ANY IDEAS?? OR SUGGESTIONS?? Dealers cant tell what the problem is...

Thanks,
Wavmike

The CEL and turn signal is not related. Definitely get the CEL checked out.

As for the turn signal, it could be related to a TSB out for the "repair" of the socket that holds the turn signal bulb. The problem is the metal strip on the socket does not make good contact to the electrical contact of the headlamp unit. All they do is put spacers behind the metal strips to make the protude more outward to touch. Just call your local mazda dealer and let them know.

good luck

The CEL code can be scanned at an auto parts store as long as they have a CAN compatible OBD2 scan tool. The code will indicate what the problem is. An O2 exhaust sensor will typically last at least 50K-60K miles. Either way it should be covered under warranty so can be fixed for free at Mazda.
