Ok, i have an 07 mazda 6 2.3L no turbo. I'm at 55,000 miles and in need of a transmission fluid change. My fluid is currently gold, well a dirty gold now. I assume the fluid is T IV fluid just because of the color, but this transmisson calls for MV?? Now I've heard of all kinds of horror stories of mixing the 2 fluids? but is that only in the 6-speeds (the MV not being sufficient enough), or is it a total incompatible mix? I just have a 5 speed, and I'm not sure what to do. I was gonna swap out the filter too, but the dealer told me not to, as they run into more problems disturbing all the particles inside. They reccomended just draining, and replacing the fluid with MV??? What do you guys think??

Thanks

Huh? Just read what the dipstick says. If it says T-IV, don't use anything but T-IV. If it says Mercon, use Mercon.

"disturbing the particles inside"? Crap, that's a new one.... Any 'particles' would be sitting the bottom of the pan. Removing the pan and cleaning it would remove the 'particles'.... Odd they don't want to charge you more money to do it. I'd never let my car go without a filter change.
