Hey guys! Ive lurked on this site for years, and have gotten a lot of good info just from looking at problems others have had, but now i need more help. 2005 Mazda 6 3.0....had the EGR valve replaced, but now im getting the P2144 code. I did some research and found that it means "EGR System ven cntrl ckt low". What the heck does that mean?

I wasnt getting that code prior to changing the egr, and now with the new valve, i get this. The EGR is new, and i made sure there was no carbon build up anywhere when i had it apart. Any ideas?

Does this vary at all for the turbo model compared to the na model? This is a na model, and i keep seeing parts listed as "boost valve", which i wouldnt think mine has? Im still stuck
The "boost" they call out is actually just a pressure change and has nothing to do with NA vs. turbo models. That small little vacuum/air line coming off the EGR valve goes to a pressure sensor that looks for a pressure change inside the plumbing to verify that the EGR valve has actually opened and closed correctly. It is the reason you can't just plug off the EGR tube without getting a fault.

Have you carefully checked the pins and plug socket on the wiring at the EGR valve? None are bent or broke off and the wiring harness hasn't melted to the EGR tube or side of the head? You may have to unwrap the harness covering to check for damaged wires.
