I've been searching this site for the Carquest part # of the DEKA 9AGM48 battery and haven't been able to come up with it. I did a little homework at the local Carquest today and bought a 48AGM70. The Carquest 48AGM70 is the equivalent of the DEKA 9AGM48. I just wanted to make sure that part number was out there for future searches.

Now I just have to install it! :D

Sometime last year I went to Carquest and explained what I needed - they were able to order me the 9AGM48 battery. I had to talk to them for a while, but someone finally knew what I meant when I said "glass material, not lead acid." It was in their catalog.

The install is slightly tricky, because the battery sits a little bit taller than the OEM. I had to get a longer screw to attach the restraint bar to the engine bay.

edit:
The correct part should be 9AGM48, not 9AMG48 "absorbed glass material"

Thanks for the info! Looking at it I was thinking I may be able to remove the handles for a little extra gain on the height issue. They look to sit in a recess when folded down. if those were removed, that could pick up a 1/4" or so. Of course that's just speculation from a first look. I won't know for sure until I get home tonight and start working on it.

Did yours need a charge? I have half a mind to throw it on the charger overnight to make sure it's 100%.

Ok, even stranger was what battery came out. In the car was a Panasonic 55D23L-MF. It was taller than the new battery and was shorter in length. I'll put the dimensions up shortly. The mounting strap fit ok but to make it just right I need to add some shims between the battery and it. I definitely did not have a problem with the new battery being too tall!

Anyone seen this battery before? I am the original owner of the car and have never had the battery changed.

The other owner probably put in a different battery. No biggie.

You can read the following thread if you are so inclined to learn more about batteries.

ps. do a search on "9AGM48" .... not 9AMG48 (transposed letters)
My searches were correct but I did transpose on my posts above (now fixed). I have read that thread and others which is why I expected a different OE battery.

As far as the existing battery goes, that was the box stock original. I bought the car new in 2006, so there was no previous owner. The interesting thing is that the battery that came out is taller than the battery that went in. As you said, you had to get a longer bolt for the hold down clamp whereas my hold down clamp was set up for the taller battery. Somewhere early on they had to have changed what the stock battery was.

In any event I have a good battery in there now and my intent was to give those who wanted it the part number for the Carquest version of the battery.

Thanks again for the info!
