You have to see if your insurance covers "intentional" property damage.
I have new jersey manufacturer also, and I think you should do it thru them. I had something similar happen to me with a broken window :( and all i had to pay was the detuctable. My insurance didn't go up a dime the following years. And incase something happens this year down the line, atleast you won't have to pay the detuctable again. Just remember, what goes around comes around... so the person who keyed your car will get theres sooner then later.

You need to have the insurance co write a estimate on the repair of the scratch, depending on you're dedcutable then you must make a desicion of going with them (if they let you because some Ins Co if you're damages are under deduc they wont repair the car) or you go on your own and get it fix.
I'm a Auto claims Adjuster for a major Insurance Co and if you provide me with a picture of the whole fender I can probably give you an estimate on how much it would cost you.

First whats your deductible? 500 is the most common. If your dedcutible is that and the damages are say 700, you are only getting a check for 200 towards the repair. Now depending on your company and many OTHER factors this could affect your insurance rates if you do put the claim in.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car but why don't you just call your insurance company and ask them if they cover it? I'm sure they have a toll-free number. I'm sure you'll get a lot more useful and accurate information than asking a bunch of random people on a message board to take their best guess.

Well I am an insurance agent, so I for one am not throwing out my best guess :) But calling your insurance company never hurts :)
my deductable is $500.. i got an estimate which was $300 .. ill prob go that route.. they have to fill it then sand and prep for paint.. since it was pretty deep.. first scratch on the car tho.. im not parking near anyone from now on.. thanks for the infoo everyone
yeah...that sucks. I doubt touch up paint will take that out.

Are you just trying to increase your post count, ninecoronas? I think it's already well established that touch-up paint won't help his problem.
Bringing this thread back..
My car for effing keyed.. I don't know why. It was at a parking lot and with many other cars around me. Only thing special about my car was the 15% tint... nothing else.
It's on my drivers door.. 1/2 of it is keyed.. pretty deep..and it stops when it hits the rear doors.. so you can see a scratch at the edge of the other door.
also.. a month ago my car was robbed of my GPS and radar detector $1000+ when the garage was closed.. makes no sense.. someone must've known before..and nothing missing in my house.... Gotta talk to insurance tommorrow... or on monday
jeez dude, hate that for ya

Pissed anybody off lately? Been yelling at the neighborhood teens?

Hope your repairs are good!
My *entire* car got keyed.. Like everything but the trunk /spoiler. 3.3K worth of damage. (this was like 2 days ago). Im dropping it off monday to get repaired.. They are repainting pretty much the entire vehicle. $500 dollar deductible and i will have a rental to drive around.
Are you serious!!!! Who did it?

I've got a bag of sugar, sack of potatoes and a broom. We can show them how to really fuck up a car

it gets the potatoes into the exhaust further i think
I don't piss anyone off.. I'm an overly nice guy.. imo.. There are not bad neighborhood kids.. or atleast 99% of em are really young.. <10 years old.. I park in the garage.. Maybe speed6 haters? The deductible is more than the repair.. So I'll get it repaired by a shop sooner or later..
