Okay so two days ago I was pulling into the turning lane after I had accelerated (but not enough to even wrap a gear out) and while sitting there the car died and would not turn over for about five min. While trying to turn over and was pretty quick sounding.

Today after driving somewhere I go to crank it and again it would not turn over at first, again giving a "quick" sound while trying to turn over. It finally turns over after a min or two. I am thinking the battery but that wouldnt cause it to die while driving would it? Also could it be a bad ground on my ignition? I just had the FMIC put on and was also wondering if maybe something came loose. I eye balled everything it wiggled it and the piping appeared fine.

I tried searching for this but came up empty and havent had a chance to get the battery tested.

your battery might be the culprit if its not holding a charge from the alternator, or if the terminals aren't secured. The "quick" noise is not exactly an explanation but my best guess to what you are trying to get at sounds like the starter is slipping.... either one are minor fixes, assuming those are it. without more information to the description not really much we can do but guess :D

Sorry for not being specific. The "quick" noise I meant was the car trying to turn over. It wasn't the typical "battery dead" trying to turn over. It was sounded normal just wouldnt turn over. I just didnt know if the battery would cause it to die after coming to an idle.
I thought about checking the pipes but I figured it would idle rough or ride rough it one of the pipes was loose. Just trying not to rip the bumper off to go over the piping.

"turn over" is an extremely poor description of what is/isn't happening, as it has a different definition depending on who you ask (some say the engine spinning during the starting process is turning-over, others say the engine actually catching/starting running is turning-over).

A better description would be to tell if the starter is spinning, thus engaging the flywheel causing the engine to crank. When it won't start is the engine spinning but never "catches"? Or does the starter fail to turn the engine at all?

I had this issue last summer, even though it only happened once.

I drag raced my brother in his genesis coupe (I won) and had to make a u turn. The car stalled during the turn and would not start for a good 4 minutes.

P.S. Your sig is huge.

Currently sitting at an auto parts store waiting for them to open, over the last year I have changed the alternator 2 times. The first one changed out the OEM an lasted about 7 months. After reaching cold weather the car started cranking hard an finally quit all togather. The alternator was under warrentee for the year when I took my old one in to get a new one from the "zone", I had them bench test the new one befor install. This one failed. 3 other "zones" parts stores in major cities in alabama had tested there new alternators from the shelf all FAILED! I decided that a new parts store could be the best, here I am again back at the new store so anyone shed some light. Oh I just got a new battery during the second replacement also.

Probably would have been a better idea to start your own thread, but since you asked id try napa if your looking for a cheaper replacement from OEM. Either that or search online, theyl send you a tracking label with the new one to send your old alt back to get your core fee.

how does it run once it finally catches?

when it's "fast" is it just thestarter freespinning, or is the motor actually turning over? If your not sure, put it in gear and, with the foot off the clutch, tap the starter & see if you jump. Just a quick tap will do, and if your not catching the flywheel that "fast" symptom won't change. That'll be the problem. If it does bump forward, than free spinning almost has to be compression related, or lack of.

Basically, just cut the problem in half- is it starter or engine?

I tested the battery last night and that was fine.
It is the motor turning over not the starter.
I had a friend/mechanic look at it last night and even though it didnt have the issue he thinks it may be related to fuel/air mixture.
Once it cranks it runs fine. I have even beat on it a little just to make sure and it didnt stall.
I am going to go over all of the piping and make sure nothing is loose.
Any more help would be great and thanks so far!!

P.S. I gotta have my wife help me with my signature I am retarded with computers

Hey just wanted to ask one more question. I think I have narrowed it down to a bad ground. It may be from the HKS ignition? Has anyone had any issues with that?
