Just have a question for canadian owners of the speed6.

For the base model ( no leather/sunroof) do you guys have heated seats and the scuff plates (dont know if its real metal or plastic silver paint ) bottom of the doors entry. Is yours just dark plastic? Because i know the loaded version has the silver/metal scuff plates.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I recall when i first went to see one, fully loaded, leather and sunroof, it had the metal/look plastic scuff plates. Perhaps the base doesnt.

Ill have to look into this more (visit some dealers n see if they have any base speed6 models....

You should have it too! Maybe the PDI guys ripped it off and stuck on a regular 6 scuff plate. I dont wanna see anyone get screwed.

Lemme know what you find too.

Any other canadians with base Or the leather package guys too? with no metal scuff plate?

The Canadian Speed6 is supposed to have heated cloth seats. If you look at www.mazda.ca it indicates heated seats are standard and not part of the Leather package. I'll let you know in two week, I ordered the non-Leather. There are a lot of differences in options between the US and Canadian models.

I have a base model(GS) and it dosent have the plates or heated seats. But to correct the other guy, it DOES have heated mirrors.[/b]
This is weird since my GT does not have heated mirrors. Bass, can you confirm that you are 100% on this? I found it another peculiar oddity that they didn't keep the homelink and autodim rearview and then removed the heated side mirrors. If they put heat mirrors in some but not all then what the heck was the difference? Build date? Did they screw the ones with the first cars they mismashed together?

This is weird since my GT does not have heated mirrors. Bass, can you confirm that you are 100% on this? I found it another peculiar oddity that they didn't keep the homelink and autodim rearview and then removed the heated side mirrors. If they put heat mirrors in some but not all then what the heck was the difference? Build date? Did they screw the ones with the first cars they mismashed together?

i know for sure mine does NOT have heated mirrors.....i would want to know for sure if others have this feature....

I did some more searching on the website... If you do a compare of the V6 GT vs Speed6 you get this:

/Edit: The formatting didn't work. :)

2006 Mazda Mazda6 Sedan 2006 Mazda MazdaSpeed6
Exterior mirrors dual power remote heated dual power remote heated
Illuminated vanity mirrors dual dual
Rearview mirror day-night day-night
Seating capacity 5 passengers 5 passengers
Front seat type bucket sports
Heated front seats N/A N/A
Available:
driver and front passenger
heated-cushion, heated-seatback

From all indications you should have heated mirrors, but not heated seats. I'll be sending Mazda an email to update their site.

Heated mirrors work at the same time as the rear defroster.

Canadian Sport model. No brushed metal scuff plate insert on the scuff guards, just all black plastic, and no heated seats.

This is not unusual in that most cars only include the heated seats feature with leather surfaces, due to the nature of leather being hard, stiff, slippery and taking a lot of time to warm up in cold climates. Cloth seats have tiny pockets of air trapped by the fibers which serve to keep the seating surface cooler in summer and faster to warm up (from body heat) in winter. Cloth also is grippier and lower maintenance than leather, which is why I chose the Sport model.
