Got a mazda 6 2005 with a single disc changer, I have a mazda 6 2004 with a 6 disc changer, can I replace the single disc with the 6 disc changer? If so, do i need to take it to the shop or can I do it myself?

welcome to the site. no idea on your question though
If its Bose vs non Bose, no. Otherwise you might be able to replace the whole assembly, not just the CD player.

Pull the stereo and remove the CD player. attach the changer and the face plate that has the different functions indicated. The whole thing is pretty straightforward. There are instructions on the radio itself showing how to separate it. This is totally DIY.

How do you tell between non Bose vs Bose?

Hello, my mazda 6 2004 has bose and the 2005 doesn’t, what do I do?
It should say bose on the sticker kn the cd changer somewhere?
Bose on the doors, on the radio and prob other places.

I believe the information display will tell you as well as on the door speaker covers but It should not matter for the changer.
