Hello,

I'm in the market for a 2004-2006 (preferably 2005) Mazda 6. I've been doing some research on the Mazda6 and I'm making a checklist of things to look at before buying one. I haven't decided on whether the s or i versions or what transmission yet. I have decided that I want a hatchback. My budget is $9k. I'm in Minnesota, so I'll have snow to deal with!

From what I gathered, the three main problems that the 2005 Mazda6 has had are
1) a hesitation and a lunge forward when stepping on the gas pedal from rest (was this fixed by a computer update?)
2) troubles shifting (ATX) from 1st to 2nd gear
3) rattling, especially from the dash

I'll trust in your collective wisdom.
What else do I need to look at or look for?

Thanks!
Jake

I have a 2005 sedan and it's awesome. I would prefer the V6 and manual transmission though. I am not an expert on the hatch but I believe it only has one body style. Correct me if I'm wrong. I've only seen ones with the sport body style. As for your questions, nothing you speak of for main problems has ever happened to me. Knock on wood. Definetly a good choice of car and good luck with your purchase. Wish I had a manual. haha
