Is there a way to improve the brakes on the 2009 Mazda 6 V6 without spending around $1000, or do you have to spend that much to make an improvement?

Aggressive pads and a high temp fluid will yield some benefit...both of which can be had for only a few hundred bones.


What type of "upgrade" are you looking for though (eg. better fade resistance, better "bite", better heat dissipation, etc.)?

If your looking for overall drastic change in performance, Brembo/rotora are big names...your talking 4k for a front or rear pair(big brake kits)...you can get a good set of cross-drilled/slotted rotors and some pads for about what your talking about spending...

EBC "red stuff" is a good way to go

stay away from big brake kits unless you track your car weekly or on a regular basis. as they will be a waste of money since you will never use them to their potential.

a simple slotted disk and better pads will make a huge difference. and brake fluid change can to but mostly when tracking or really strenuous mountian drives and wutnot

The great NY is just saying there's no point in even investigating big brake kits if the guy is only willing to spend 1k or less.. :yield2:

Stainless steel brake lines are a nice upgrade. few hundred and some of your time.

What would be a good upgrade if I sometimes go out to the track? Would I have to spend more money for that because I wouldn't think that the steel braided lines would help for the track would they? Last time I took it out to the track I had to get new pads.

Track pads, SS lines and high-temp fluid. That's fine for the occasional track day.
