Alright maybe you guys can help me out here. Alright I was on my way home and about 4 minutes from my house I noticed a CEL came on and so I proceded home then when I got on my street I smell a burning electric/plastic smell and it was awful. So I get to my driveway pop the hood and start smelling and I get to the point where its unbareable and I see this http://s113.photobucket.com/albums/n234/Sh...mgAnch=imgAnch1

now im no expert at this kinda stuff so I have no idea where to go from here and or what this could have affected. I made an appointment for tommorow morning and I used some C clamps to keep it secure for the ride, but my question is what the hell is that, how could this have happened and what this could have potentially affected.
Keep In mind the car was only running for another 30 seconds after I recognized the smell. The CEL light was on a mximum of 5 minutes.

Thanks for any help or insight

That's the BOV, ahh that sucks to know that they are that cheap. I thought folks on here were being hard on the stock BOV because it's plastic, I guess it really is a cheap POS.
 OMFG!!! *runs to turn down MBC*

What, so basically should I seal it up and drive it to the dealership in the am or get it towed
u can just seal it up and drive. just try to stay out of boost on the way to the dealership.
It's under warranty as long as they can't prove you did something to cause it....therefore the tow is free.
I know the tow is free but me taking it there gets it looked at right away and plus I have done no mods so far to the engine or exhaust at all. So im under full warranty. The CAI in my sig is still being shipped so I have nothing
Dude! wtf, lol we were'nt driving that hard today. Sorry to see this happening to your new baby. I wonder how the hell that happend with stock boost levels. Anyhow, I am def ordering a new bov soon. Also while your there get that dam thud fixed too.
definitely pushing me to pull the trigger on the BOV too.

BANG!!!

trigger pulled for me. what is the code for saving $$ at street performance again?
Hockeyguy, How many miles on your car?
no code, just on sale. https://secure38.easycgi.com/sc-power/store...51&dept=160

does anyone have experience w/SC? or this particular flange?
7600 give or take a few miles, im a baby with this car too never taken it over 6000 rpm and mainly stay in 3000-4800 when shifting
And here I thought I was just buying the HKS BOV for the sound. I can't believe that it just seperated like that. I would definately suggest having it towed. Did you notice a large decrease in HP? The way that it broke looks like it would be constantly venting any pressure in the manifold.
Naw like I said it happened really close to my house and smelled awful when i got on my street, and i never pushed it on my street, so I think it actually blew off right before I got onto my street. As for towing I think im fine I C clamped it together and its holding solid and the smell is gone, so I will be driving it to mazda in the am for them to give me a new one and check my engine.

sc was the first company to release flanges for the ms6. i have one for the greddy. great quality, perfect fit. need i say more?
good to hear. it would be hard to find a better time to pick up the HKS than now for $250.
Okay, so that crazy broken BOV scares me. Being the new turbo owner that I am, any suggestions on a good BOV? Yeah...that picture almost brought a tear to my eye. :tear:

Anyone have a CP-E or AEM intake either? I'm curious to how many have a CEL problem with those...not sure which one to go for...

Go with the HKS SSQV BOV.

As far as I know no one has gotten a cel from either intake. I've had the CP-E on for about 4000 miles with no codes.
i've been running the CPE xCel for a couple thousand miles; works great. i previously used the CPE MAFci in my old M6s, it also had great craftsmanship & operability.
