I believe it goes before the PCV valve, I think it's supposed to collect all of the oils and dirt that comes up from the crankcase and collects it so it doesn't go into the intake. I'm not 100% sure on this so we'll have to see what others say.

I think Rcyboy over on 6tech did this for his speed6. After a month he said the can was bone dry, which leads me to believe you wont have this problem unless its an older car.

while it is indeed a functional part, the primary purpose on a modern vehicle is engine bay cosmetics :) we sell them primarily to people with alot of performance modifications, especially turbo kits, where blow by is more present.
