My 04 6s is in need of a new battery this will be the second that I've had to replace since I bought the car in 2006. I think the engine compartment heat is killing them prematurely. Has anybody had this problem. The first was a Die hard from Sears this one is from NAPA. What suggestions for a third battery would you recommend.

Thanks

I also have an 04' 6s, and my original battery lasted about 3 1/2 yrs. I bought a Duralast Redtop from Autozone and that lasted almost 3 yrs. I just got a DL Gold for $53 total, because they pro-rated my Red for $46 under warranty. At least the Gold has a 3 yr. replacement warranty, and is a stronger battery. I live in S. Fl and the average battery life down here is about 3-4 yrs., due to the high heat that kills these things.

I have installed 2 batteries to date on my '05 6s. Both have lasted about 2.5 years. I have used OEM, A.Z. Red top, and now have A.Z. gold top. Both batteries have dies during the summer and without any warning. I believe it is a heat issue and battery location in the engine compartment. I would have gone to an interstate but why spend the money on a good battery when the placement is so poor that you will just burn it up anyway.

 Crap.

My factory POS battery lasted 2 years and one month from the production date of the car.

I've been running a red-top Oh-No-Zone Duracrap battery for almost 3 years in the Southwest.

Dammit. I need to start carrying jumper cables .... <_<

Damn I hate trying to warranty a battery at Uh-Oh-Zone.

They bring out that stupid little capacitive tester. The results are always inconclusive so it has to be charged. So you gotta' leave the effin' battery there. Then the capacitive tester reads "GOOD".

I was ready this time. Brought the Load Tester with me. "BAD"

Talk to keyholder counter monkey. FAIL.
Talk to assistant manager. WIN. New battery. But have to pay $12.00 core charge FAIL.

Contacting Regional Manager Monday. Getting my $12 back. Taking my wife to Smashburger or Red Robin with my " huge windfall". WIN

I replaced the OEM battery in my '06 6s at the 4 year mark. No issues, just felt it was time and didn't want to have it go out on me. I was about to turn it in for the core charge, and decided to do a load check on it. The thing was still very strong!... passed the load check easily. Instead of getting $7 for it, I kept it for a spare. I'll just top charge it every month or so...
