The Speeds would come with "MazdaSpeed" on them to promote you have the faster one but that was also technically an entire different subset of cars, not just a trim thing.
Personally, I like a cleaner look and less badging does the trick.

The absence of a trim badge made it very difficult for me to search/buy my daughter's 2014 GT. Many ads were wrong and cited the wrong version, only true thing I could go by was the Bose label on the front speaker but many ads didn't show this.
When I bought my 2006 it was easier as only the GT came with those distinctive rims.
IMO, trim badging is something you might like if you own the upper trim level or a special edition, its a way to stand out. If someone owns a lower trim level, they might prefer not having them.

Then you have a problem of up-badging.
I personally find it dumb/senseless when I see that people changed their trim badge for the one of a higher level... some people in the SHO community do the opposite, they replaced the SHO for a Limited or SL badge to be more of a "sleeper".

May I know what is SHO?
SHO is the "sport/muscle" version of the Ford Taurus. First released in 1989 through 1999 with three different generations and then re-launched again in 2010 with the fourth generation that came with the 3.5 l twin turbo ecoboost which can be tuned to deliver up to 450hp and up to 600hp+ with upgraded turbos. Ford called it SHO (Super High Output) and because it is still a family sedan, it is considered the ultimate sleeper.
Add your own badging. I know it will bring a lot of ire from here but you can make it what you want.
I have changed mine to reflect the modifications I have made. I have a 6s and have badged it accordingly.
It has turned out to be a nice "ice breaker" for me as I have met several Mazda folks after they approach me to talk about it. That is a win as I have made new friendships from it.
