Well, it's my turn I guess, but yet another MS6 is off the road. I really loved this car and can honestly say, even with the minor problems I've had lately, it was the best car I have ever owned. I now need to buy a new car within 30 days and there is very little out there in the 30k or below price range that appeals to me at all.

Here are the pics...

Just went there this morning, snagged my Forge BPV, Euro Tails, and my plates, and said my goodbyes. You will be missed.

No, since I try to keep cars for 7-10 years, I would never buy a car like the speed used. If I could get a new one...sure, but I'm buying new. I planned on keeping the speed that long, but it didn't work out that way.

Yeah, just had a little bit of a stiff neck for a day or so, and no airbags went off even though I went into that cement wall around 60-70mph.

Even worse there are really no AWD vehicles out there, in my price range, that interest me, so it looks like back to RWD.

As it stands right now, and I NEVER thought I'd say this...I'm getting close to snagging a (lord forgive me) Hyundai Genesis Coupe, 3.8 Track. It is incredibly difficult to find anything with a manual transmission anymore...especially with some power. I drove a lower end GT one and I still don't believe it's a Hyundai.

Yeah, really the only complaint was the power curve is a bit linear..so used to the head snap back in the speed. The warranty on it makes Mazda's look incredibly weak, and it even beat a RX-8 around the track in some testing...THAT blows my mind.

The track model comes with 4 piston Brembo brakes, Torsen LSD, stiffer suspension, and freakin huge 19" wheels. The funny thing is, the MB Boosts I have my MS6 summer tires on actually fit the Genesis...only the offset is slightly different.

They get 306HP out of the 3.8V6 on 87 octane, and running premium gives you 315. It only gets beat by a little by the 2010 Mustang GT, and the 370Z. It did better in all tests than the G37. All that for under $30k with NAV seems like a hell of a deal.

Now, my first two things I will have to do if I get it is to get the front grille with no stupid chrome H, and remove the chrome H from the rear.

:)

Thanks. Long story short...I was in the left lane on the highway, guy in the right lane was coming up on a slower car and thought he had room to get in front of me, and didn't. His rear driver's side tagged the nose of my car and made the car shift a bit, but she kept going straight. However, it threw his car into a counter-clockwise spin in front of me, and as his front end came around and tagged my driver's front, it pushed my car parallel to his and we both went straight into the cement wall dividing the two sides of the highway. If that wall wasn't there, I would have been into oncoming traffic on the other side. I saw the wall coming and shut my eyes. The EMT's kept asking me questions because they expected me to be more hurt. You can see the frame rails in the engine bay that crumpled like they should. I was hoping it was repairable, but they were already up to about 13k without taking it apart yet, so they totalled it. I got more than I owe on it so it turned out ok. I believe the ACV was almost 19k with 49k miles.

That's one great thing from what I've seen about the speed6. People have gotten into accidents that could have been very serious, but the speed6 keeps the passengers fairly uninjured. At least it's reliable when it matters.

I did, but again, I'm not buying used and the new ones look horrible. Is there even a Spec-B in 2010?

This is the Genesis I'm looking at...track model in grey.

Those are sick! And fast I hear, esp. the turbo version with an upgraded kit. Sorry, forgot you want a new ride..
That's the only thing that sux (well, not the only thing) about buying a used sports car, you never know what @ss owned it previously.
Good luck, test drive your heart out! and post some pics of your new ride.

Sorry to see the 6 like that, Pete. I'm glad to hear you were not injured (or worse).

Don't be ashamed to be wanting a Hyundai. Their products are a huge improvement from just 4 years ago, and they're getting better everyday. AFAIC, the Genesis coupe is an excellent choice, and IMO it looks, drives, and is priced better than the 370Z.

Get it, NOW! :)

Thanks for the kind words guys. I know I'm going to miss the old girl for quite awhile yet...even with getting a nice new ride. Looking for cars over the last week has made me realize just how unique this car was.

My only concern right now is now I'm going to have to deal with New England winters with RWD again...but at least with some good winter tires/rims it will be do-able. I was really spoiled with the Dunlop wintersport equipped MS6.

As a side note, why is it so hard to find a car with a standard transmission these days?? It seems the manu-matics are the flavor du-jour in most sports cars nowadays...

Also, I'm so glad my insurance company has been such a pleasure to deal with. I went through them and I'm going to just let them go after the other guy. I was in the accident last Thursday night, and here it is, one week later and I already have been paid for the loss, and they are letting me keep my rental for the full 30 days to help with my car search. The Genesis will only raise my insurance $27/year too.

Thanks, but I will stick around. I love this place and will always consider myself a speed owner...well...an ex-speed owner now I guess.

My dad (in his quest to finally have a sports car) bought a 2.0T Genesis Coupe R-Spec just before Christmas. It's a surprisingly quick car, handles very well and the quality seems to be pretty good. I can only imagine what the 3.8 is capable of. One thing about the 19" wheels that I find odd, is that they weigh 30 lbs each!

Already, my 69 year old dad has tinted the windows, is working on installing a boost gauge, HIDs, short shifter, and improved bushings. He even asked me to photoshop a black vinyl roof for him, just to see what it would look like.

Of course, if you can manage to take even a decent looking stock Genesis, and turn it into something like this...
