I used Quicktime Pro. Save the quicktime movie and then export it as 'Movie to image sequence'. Under options you can choose from jpeg or png files. Make the number of frames you probably need in any graphics program and pull each jpeg onto a separate frame. Edit/delete the frames as you like. Make sure to delete some frames in order to get smaller files.

Works with AVI files as well.

Yeah, I did. I'll send you the animated gif when I'm back home. I got it on another computer. I made it as titanium as can get. Looks nice and smooth. A full 360° turn.

I have a big video.....

I selected the part I want to export with the little selecting arrows in the player.
How do I get it to export only that selection?

select the part you want to export with the arrows, choose 'edit' > 'cut' > open a new player window > 'edit' > 'paste"

or

select the part you want to export with the arrows, CTRL + C (copy); open a new player window, CTRL + V (paste)

Then you should have the selected part in the new player window. Export it.
